Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurynn Estes.
Hi Laurynn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Laurynn Estes; I’m a Certified Medical assistant and Holistic Healthcare Practitioner. I have worked in the medical field for just over 5 years in urgent care, mental health, and hospital settings.
I first discovered holistic healthcare in 2020 amid the pandemic when the whole world was struggling with anxiety and mass panic. That’s when I discovered that there are SO many ways to heal your mind, body, and spirit, and not all of them include medication.
For now, I practice just a few, but I’m always excited and open to learning new ways to heal the body. I practice Massage Therapy and try to include stretching, posture work, and cupping in almost all my sessions to help heal the body physically.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I grew up in a very non-affectionate home. The family I grew up around didn’t hug much; we didn’t say I love you very often. So, when I started my journey into Massage Therapy, I was terrified. I didn’t know what to expect or if the environment I grew up in would hinder my learning experience.
I am a first-generation college graduate so graduating from college was a challenge on its own.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am Mobile Massage Therapist. I specialize in posture correction and Energy work that helps clear out negative emotions in the body! There’s so much more to massage than what most people think. Massage can help improve your mood, flexibility, and overall health.
I would say what sets me apart from others is that with each session comes something new, whether it be a new technique or a new stretch to help improve the flexibility I’m always trying to help my clients elevate and feel their best both physically and emotionally.
Depending on my client and their body, I also try to include aromatherapy in my work. I make custom lotions, oils, and candles to tailor to each client’s desires and/or symptoms.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
During the pandemic, I worked in a very stressful environment. I experienced anxiety for the first time and going to work was something I no longer looked forward to. One day they had a staff appreciation day and offered free acupuncture to all the staff that wanted to try it. To my luck, the acupuncturist, Andrea Arteaga, was doing a few points that specialized in helping with anxiety.
From the moment she put the needles in my ear, I was clear-headed and calm for the first time in months due to the pandemic. That experience alone let me know that I was in the wrong profession. I wanted to learn how to provide a safe space and bring calmness to people without having to prescribe medications.
