Meet Len de Wit of Lionstrong Athletics in Clairemont Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Len de Wit.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Len. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Canada, where I attended the University of Calgary and received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. This education gave me the knowledge I needed to start a personal training business focused on treating those with injuries. Shortly after, I moved down to San Diego and formed Lionstrong Athletics, continuing to train those who are injured or have a history of injuries. As much as I was helping clients reach their goals, it wasn’t enough for me, I needed more answers, more knowledge, and more ways to help. That’s when I decided to go back to school and get a doctorate degree focusing on manual osteopathic therapy. I use the combined knowledge of my degrees to treat clients using joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, stretching, and corrective exercises. Beyond treating injuries, I also love to train individuals looking for aesthetic changes (losing weight, building muscle, etc.), as well as those training for sport. I work with all kinds of people, from those wanting to get out of pain or look better, to amateur and professional athletes in sports such as football, hockey, golf, strongman, basketball and more.

Has it been a smooth road?
“Nothing worth doing in life comes easy,” a paraphrase from Theodore Roosevelt, is an important revelation to remember when you are building your dream life, career, and relations. Throughout this journey, I have experienced a setback in all kinds of ways, from overcoming a serious injury (foot reconstruction) to the stress of pursuing a doctorate degree, and much more both in business and personal life. However, any setback or struggle should be seen as opportunity to grow and evolve as a better, stronger version of yourself.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lionstrong Athletics – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Lionstrong Athletics focuses on injury treatment and prevention, aesthetics, and sport-specific training. I have treated all kinds of injuries, from neck, shoulder, upper and lower back, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. I have four main pillars of therapy learned from the theories of osteopathy and kinesiology: joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, stretching, and corrective exercises. What sets Lionstrong apart is that a person can achieve any goal they want under my care. I often have individuals who start coming to me to get out of pain, and then transition into strength or aesthetic training once the pain is gone, every goal can be achieved under one roof.

The moments that make me proud and excited to be doing what I’m doing are when my clients thank me, smile, hug me, share with me their successes, sometimes cry (happy tears), and change both physically and psychologically. This is truly the best feeling in the world and something I strive to feel every day.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
San Diego is an amazing city, and a place I am proud to call home. Of course, the weather is much better here than Canada, but beyond that, I think what really sets San Diego ahead from other cities in the people. Everyone has been so nice, caring, and welcoming, and for that, I love this town.

The only complaint I have about San Diego is sometimes in the summer it gets too hot for me!
