Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie C.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Leslie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts with the need to challenge myself. I grew up in a Hispanic home where English wasn’t our primary language. Learning English wasn’t much of an obstacle but writing and staying focused was. Having troubles like this made me shy when trying to express myself. As I grew older, I learned I could do anything I set my mind to do. That’s literally how I started my blog. I was trying to challenge myself to grow and be open to new experiences. Even though I knew I couldn’t write well, I was still going to give it a good try. I introduced my website about a year ago and it has been like therapy to write about my experiences. It’s a great feeling to know people who read my posts can relate to me and feel comfortable as well. It works as a reminder to know you are not alone! My good friend Luii reached out to me after I started my blog and asked to be part of The Kick It Podcast. I’ve met amazing people since and has brought me great experiences. Meeting so many talented, motivated and hard-working people has been refreshing.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Self-doubt constantly takes a toll on me which causes me to procrastinate. Some days, even the littlest task feels like a big deal. Being a single mother has its own difficulties and between work, family and home responsibilities, I have to find time to write my blog and record for the podcast. Thankfully, the podcast crew is understanding, and I get to bring my child during recordings when I don’t have childcare. It’s such a huge blessing that my daughter is good as long as she’s got her books!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m known as a blogger, podcaster and on the days I feel brave, I call myself a writer. When I write or record an episode, I like to keep it real or as some say, “keep it organic”. Taking time to talk about my honest point of view and real-life is my main focus. This allows readers and listeners to feel as they’ve known me for years. I feel like it gives them a welcoming presence when they reach out to me for advice or simply to hear them out.
