Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Cole.
Leslie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From a young age, I have had a passion for performing hair and style makeovers. The power of transformation has always intrigued me.
After a vintage salon chair came into my life, I took it as the sign I needed to go ahead with my dream to become a Hairstylist. I attended Cosmetology school at San Diego City College and received my license in 2008. I was eager to get my career started and transform clients from the outside in.
I have been fortunate to learn from amazing educators and mentors along the way, creating my own unique hairdressing style and client experience.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hair is a very personal and important element to one’s self-image. Starting out my career in La Jolla right after school I had to dig deep to find the confidence to show clients they could trust in me. Building a clientele has taken time and I have put countless hours into marketing and continuing education to create the success I craved.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
The power of hair color has been a constant inspiration to me. It has been so interesting to see the trends and techniques that have developed over the last decade. The evolution of beautiful hair color has morphed into more of a lived-in look with the popularity of Balayage and more rooty styles. I am obsessed with effortless, lived in and naturally enhanced hair color.
I truly believe hair is your ultimate accessory and should speak to your personal style and lifestyle.
I offer my clients truly the best when it comes to their hair. I take pride in using the best products on the market, including ammonia-free Loreal hair color, Kerastase and Oribe haircare. As well as the best tape-in extensions from the local Easi Hair Pro. These extensions create the most realistic blend of length and volume, truly creating a client’s dream hair.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment comes when a client walks out of the salon door with a smile on their face and a pep in their step, knowing their hair looks fabulous!
A noteworthy point in my career was being credited in San Diego Home and Garden Lifestyle Magazine for my hair and makeup styling while I was involved in the Timken Museum ‘Art of Lifestyle’ event in 2011.
