Meet Leslie Otero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Otero.

Leslie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I lived most of my life in San Diego. I lived in Chula Vista for most of my childhood and into early adulthood before I got married and moved to Virginia. When we got orders back to San Diego my husband at that time and I grew apart and we went our separate ways. I was more motivated than ever to finish my degree and move on with my dream of working in the entertainment and marketing industry. I’m now focused on moving forward in life with my career and helping raise my nieces.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Before I got married I was well on my way to SDSU to finish my degree in marketing. When we moved to Virginia I had to put my education and dream of working in the entertainment industry on hold because I had to work to pay the bills and survive. When we moved back to San Diego my husband and I tried our best to work on our relationship until we decided it was best to go our separate ways. We got married after knowing each other for 4 months. How we lasted 10 years? I have no idea. No regrets though. He was a great man and would have made a fantastic father. I just didn’t see myself having kids with him or sharing a life with him anymore. I had a different vision for myself and just couldn’t string him along.

Please tell us about your work.
I just started my blog on October 1st, 2019! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I call myself a pseudo mom because I’ve helped raise and am still helping to raise my nieces and nephew. They are my world and I love to show them off to the world! My blog is about life and family. Friends and family. It’s a little bit of everything because I feel variety is important. I wanted to start a fashion blog but there’s just so much competition plus kids are who I truly enjoy being around because I too am a child at heart.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Graduating with my marketing degree and having my parents there to see me walk. It was a magical feeling and a wonderful accomplishment.
