Today we’d like to introduce you to Leticia Owens
Hi Leticia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2018, I turned my passion into action by opening Blu Life Wellness Studio in Escondido, California. With over a decade of experience in healthcare, I saw that traditional medicine sometimes isn’t enough, so I began exploring holistic therapies to complement it.
My journey into alternative wellness started with my own experience using Infrared Sauna Therapy. The benefits were so impressive that I knew I had to share them with others. This passion led me to make a big change: I sold my San Francisco Bay Area family home, left a stable career, and moved to the San Diego area to create my very own wellness sanctuary. At that moment, my excitement and naivety masked the formidable challenges ahead; little did I know that the journey would require tremendous resilience to keep the studio thriving until now.
At first, Blu Life Wellness Studio focused on Infrared Sauna Therapy. But as I learned more about holistic health, I expanded the services. Today, I offer a range of treatments, including Private Infrared Sauna Therapy with Chromotherapy, Cold Plunge Therapy, Cryo Cellulite and Fat Reduction, Cryo Facials, IV Drips, and med spa treatments like weight-loss injections, hormone replacement therapy, laser treatments, neurotoxins, fillers, and more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting Blu Life Wellness Studio in 2018 was both exciting and challenging. Moving to the San Diego area, where I had no personal connections, meant I had to build my network and find clients from scratch. It took a lot of effort to get involved in the community.
Soon after, in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and disrupted businesses around the world. The wellness industry was hit hard by social distancing and health concerns, teaching me the importance of adapting quickly and staying resilient as a small business owner.
After the worst of the pandemic passed, rising inflation brought new challenges. Higher costs and changes in how people spend their money forced me to adjust my plans to keep the studio financially healthy. These experiences taught me the value of careful financial planning and being ready for unexpected changes.
Through these challenges, I’ve gained a wealth of experience in several key areas. For example, effective business management meant learning how to quickly adjust budgets during unexpected downturns, such as when inflation increased our operational costs. I had to renegotiate contracts, streamline our processes, and implement new safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that both staff and clients remained safe while keeping the studio running.
Community engagement has also played a crucial role in our success. I began hosting local wellness workshops, free introductory sessions, and community health events that not only educated people about our services but also built strong relationships within the community. By collaborating with local businesses and influencers, I was able to create a network of support that helped spread the word about Blu Life Wellness Studio.
Lastly, resilience has been essential in navigating the ever-changing wellness industry. When competitors attempted to copy our business model, I focused on continuous innovation by expanding our service offerings and refining our approach. Every setback, from economic challenges to market shifts, taught me the importance of staying adaptable and committed to my vision. These experiences have not only strengthened my ability to manage a business but also deepened my understanding of what it takes to thrive in a competitive, dynamic industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blu Life Wellness Studio ?
