Meet Lexy Zuniga of Kool Body Personal Training

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lexy Zuniga.

Lexy Zuniga

Hi Lexy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for fitness really started when I was introduced to bodybuilding and the world of fitness competitions in 2014. The dedication, consistency, and lifestyle were all things that truly inspired me.

But the competition world also showed me how easily body dysmorphia could be detrimental to one’s well-being. With that being the case, I wanted to help people build a healthy relationship through health and fitness, not detrimental relationships with it.

I decided to get my personal training certification in 2015 and go to school for Dietetics and Nutrition. Being a personal trainer while earning my bachelor’s degree gave me a lot of experience and insight into a lot of the benefits exercise and food could do to positively impact someone’s life.

So here we are, 10 years later, and I am still a personal/group fitness trainer and help mentor others on a holistically balanced lifestyle. My passion for this field doesn’t make work feel like…work. I’ve been blessed to learn as I go, and I’m so grateful to help those with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working.

In the near future, I’m hoping to take things a step further and go to school to become an ND or naturopathic doctor. Who knew that the introduction to something as small as a bikini competition would change the course of my life to help others care for their overall health and lifestyle?

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, as I’m sure that’s the case for most people.

Trying to build up clientele, moving, becoming a mom, shutting down, and many more obstacles all had a big impact on my growth as an entrepreneur. But if you’re willing to get back up and grind after falling and failing—it all becomes worth it in the end!

As you know, we’re big fans of Kool Body Personal Training. For our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand, what can you tell them about it?
I work at a boutique studio in Del Mar called Kool Body. I work alongside an amazing trainer and the owner, Scott Elliott.

We specialize in strength training and work with people from all walks of life and all ages. Our clientele varies from athletes, Ironman athletes, individuals coming back from injury, those trying to maintain or build bone density, moms (pre and postpartum), and so on.

We offer 1-on-1 personal training, partner training, virtual/online training, as well as our signature 8-week program.

I’m proud to say that we’re not just trainers and clients, but our community of members has become like a family to us, and we love continuing to grow those relationships.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
Trainerize has definitely helped us with our online and virtual training. We also create personalized programs for those looking to further their fitness experience.
