Lisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The launching point of my business was when a book tour came through San Diego and they were looking for a local bakery to provide a cake for their stop in La Jolla. I wasn’t licensed at the time as I just did desserts for friends and family. This pushed me into becoming an actual licensed and insured bakery and gave me the ability to sell to the public going forward.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a fairly smooth road, but the biggest struggle has been developing a customer base. With little to no budget for advertising, word of mouth and social media played the largest part in growing my business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cake Dreams & Cookie Wishes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full service bakery with a wide variety of items on our menu. Our highest accolades are given to our sugar cookies both for design and taste. We are also known for our Signature Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake. Our greatest goal is to provide the best customer service and add in special touches our clients don’t expect to set us apart from other bakeries they could choose to use.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Well, I’d have to say an obvious choice of our weather is what I like best. I can’t even imagine trying to deliver a wedding cake in snow, sleet, hail or torrential downpour.
I’m sure what I like least about San Diego is true in any large metropolitan area, the traffic can get to you especially when you have specific delivery times for events.
