Meet Lisiane Bilibio of Liquid Bean Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisiane Bilibio.

Hi Lisiane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Lisiane Bilibio, and I’m the proud owner of Liquid Bean Café in Del Mar. t’s an honor to share my story with you. Originally from Brazil, I moved to the U.S. at 23. After working in the coffee industry for over 15 years, I found myself at crossroads during my thirties, questioning my careers path and wondering if it was time for a change. I was going through a sort of mid-life crisis when I stumbled upon a podcast discussing career pivots. The hosts were advising listeners to focus on what they were already good at, rather than trying to turn their hobbies into businesses. This advice really resonated with me, as I had been considering monetizing my own passions at the time.It was a turning point for me, and I decided to pursuit what I knew best – coffee.
That’s when the idea for Liquid Bean Café was born. Today, we’re a cozy spot known for our handcrafted coffee, delicious pastries, and light bites-just steps from the beach. Our café offers a peaceful atmosphere with a lovely outdoor garden, making a popular destination for both locals and visitors. I’m incredibly grateful for the community’s support since we opened, and I’m excited to continue growing and sharing my love for coffee with everyone who walks through our café.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road-but like many small businesses, the first two years were specially challenging due to the pandemic. I opened the Liquid Bean Café in January 2020, just a couple of months before everything shut down. It was an incredibly uncertain time, and like many, I had to quickly adapt to a constantly changing situation. Even with those early challenges, I feel fortunate that we were able to navigate through without major setbacks. The support from the local community made all the difference, and I’m truly grateful for that. Looking back, those tough early days only made the journey more meaningful and the success even more sweeter.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Liquid Bean Café is a small, independent coffee shop located just steps from the beach in Del Mar. We’re specialized in handcrafted coffee, fresh pastries, and light bites-all served in a peaceful garden-like setting. What sets us apart is our attention to detail and commitment to creating experience, not just serving a cup of coffee. Every drink is made with care, using high quality ingredient and a whole lot of love. Our outdoor garden adds a unique charm, offering guests calm and welcoming place to slow down, connect and simply enjoy the moment. We’re proud to be a local gathering spot for both the community and travelers. Whether someone stops in for a morning coffee, a quiet moment for themselves, or a catch up with friends, we want them to feel at home. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the sense of connection we’ve created. Liquid Bean isn’t just about coffee-it’s about community, kindness and consistency. I want readers to know that when they visit us, they are supporting something personal and genuine. We’re not trying to be the trendiest café-we’re here to offer something real, something comforting, and something made with care every single day.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in both my life and business-sometimes good, sometimes challenging-but I believe it’s a mix of preparation and perseverance that makes all the difference. For instance, opening Liquid Bean Café just before the pandemic was unexpected timing, and while that could have been seen as a bad luck, it also tough me resilience and the importance of adaptability. We’ve come to see that luck isn’t just about chance; it’s about how you respond to whatever comes your way.
