Today we’d like to introduce you to Lita Ramirez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved the creative arts area. I went to Kellog elementary which at that time was an SCPA (School of Performing art) in Chula Vista. Their I learned modern, jazz, square dancing, tap, flute, & violin. I then took classes at the local recreation centers & dance studios in Chula Vista. In High school I went to the Chula Vista SCPA & in college I attended Shenandoah University Dance program in Virginia. When I came back to Chula Vista their were new developments in the city & was hired for the dance program at various recreation centers & worked also at local dance studios. Many parents, teachers & studio owners would comment to me that I need my own studio. They would encourage me to look around & see how I can make it possible. I was very taken back by their support & confidence in me to be able to run my own studio. They all saw in me what I had not yet seen. I owe my success to all those parents, dance teachers, studio owners that kept encouraging me to try. I knew there were many dance studios in the area & I wanted my place of business to be different. This is where I decided to show the public we are a faith based, family run business. My focus is not just on dance/gymnastics, music, but encouraging, motivating, helping my clients see their potential the way the many individuals saw my potential. I love to help bring out their hidden strengths in themselves & to grow their existing strengths to a hire achievement. My love for God, family, community makes me want to use my talents, gifts God has given me for every person who comes to my business. I pray & ask God to help me to make them shine as the person He made them to be. To show me how to train them, guide them to not just in their creative arts aspect but also in their mind healing. I have been using my limbic rewiring your brain- neuroplasticity training & techniques in my classes to help my clients improve creatively but also within their individual identity to who God made them to be for success. It’s not just about creativity its about their identity of who they truly are & to learn, grow & strengthen that. Too many run into identity as their job, position in life, wealth, what they have or do not have & I want every one that comes to my business to know they are more then that. Those things are just blessings that flow out of their true identity of who they are. Those individuals who believed in me to start my business, I want to give back to them & this is how I do it by giving what they saw in me back to my community, God used them in my life to help me see what I did not see in myself. They are the ones & God I owe my success to & this is how Selah Groove was born, from those ladies that believed in me. I want to thank them for their words, help by doing what they did for me for others in my community thru Creative arts. Selah Groove isn’t just a dance/gymnastic or music training. We provide kids camp where the kids do all classes we offer at Selah Groove. We also provide enrichment classes such as a princess class & Girl time squad class. We bake, dance, create art projects, crafts, goal posters, affirmation posters & many more fun projects to help them see who God made them to be & flourish in it. I truly love what I do. Its about the people that come inside those doors I want to bless & I partner with God on how to do that. He has never let me down in helping any one. He made them & knows them best & I want to use what I can to help that adult, child, toddler. I want to see & want them to see, what they don’t see in themselves & bring that out in them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road for me, but I do not regret one bit the struggles. Those struggles, trials are the true blessings in life. They help us grow if we let them. They are stepping stones, to help us get to the next level to where we are going. I welcome the struggles, I look at the struggles & ask God what do you want me to know & what do you want me to do. He is the one who will help me get there. If I am still alive my job is not done & I want to be able to use my struggles & trials to help another to get where they can. Trials & struggles are about helping others, not giving up. They are about reassessing the area that is a struggle/trial. Looking at it in the light of making changes or not making changes but adding on top of or taking away. We need encouragement/motivation when we are in the struggle/trial at times & these questions will give us that. Asking others for help or ideas & of course prayer is always a priority as well. Use the resources that are available to us.
