Meet Lorena of Yoyen in Tierrasanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2011, I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Graphic Design. Soon, I started to work for a design studio where I created corporate designs and provided costumer service. I enjoyed every minute of my job, but I also realized that I was ready to start my own business, a gift shop. Having my own business has been a rewarding experience, and I couldn’t be happier myself!

Has it been a smooth road?
Having my own business is definitely an exciting experience, but it comes with many challenges that I’ve had to overcome. One of the biggest challenges was that I didn’t know how to run a business but, it was time for me to learn, so I attended several workshops for small business owners and it all soon began to make more sense to me. At some point, I also started miss the studio environment, the team-oriented atmosphere that I was used to.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Yoyen – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is an online gift shop that specializes in creative gifts and personalized designs. Through my designs, I want to celebrate the little pleasures of life like family, hobbies, and travels.
I love to give a customized feel to everything I create as my main goal is to focus on giving an outstanding and personalized costumer service. Seeing how people react to my products is by far the best part of owning this business and I want to continue to do this as long as possible. Oh, and I am also excited to say that my products can be found in local stores!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love San Diego. There is always something interesting and fun to do… and how could I not mention the weather? It is just perfect!
