Meet Manuel Roa of Kings Bred in Chula Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Roa.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Manuel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Manuel Roa and the co-founder of Kings Bred brand. My main company is called Roa Operations Inc. In which Kings Bred, music, and boxing is under. My story begins in 2009, which I was in Djibouti Africa working for the United States as the Department of Defense. After being there for a year, I realize I wanted to do something else and get into business. I loved music and I noticed that didn’t matter from what culture and what point of the world I was in. People would enjoy Latin music. I decided to quit my job and come back to the states and open a promotion company. I book my first artist “+Angel y Khriz” a Reggeaton duo from Puerto Rico. It was two months till the day of the show and I decided to take my mom on vacation to Mexico and while being out there, I was embezzled by my business partner and came back to nothing in my bank account. Having no money and owing the artist, the other 50% of their payment.

The day came the artist get here to San Diego and I go talk to their manager and tell them about my situation. I look at him directly at him and I said I’m a man of my word and if you guys get on stage, I will give you the thirteen thousand in a week, which I manage to borrow in a day and they had it three day’s later. This opened the door to me with the artist in Puerto Rico and was able to get investors to believe in me and do many concerts in San Diego. I got the point that putting concerts was not my passion, but I loved the music. I decided to sell my business and start a family. As I started working and regular job 9 to 5 within the years, I became unhappy and decided to start again just by booking the talent and working other areas with the artist.

In 2017 I started an urban brand with a long time friend Giovanni Ortega known as Gio, which he is a producer. We saw a gap in the Latin industry that no one was exploring and since then, our hat brand has been worn by the biggest Latin superstars such as Nicky Jam, Annuel, Karol G, J Balvin and many more. In addition, it has been a feature in many music videos and mentioned. In the mix with our brand and music, I’ve been able to unite different worlds such Reggeaton and Boxing. I work with the best boxer in world pound per pound Canelo Alvarez and I started with him on the social media from there I made introduction such as Bad Bunny and J Balvin, which led to friendship and even J Balvin dropping a verse with Canelo name on the track “Ritmo” with the Black Eyed Peas.

We continue to unite different genres, people and sports. Our goal is to bring culture around the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes we encounter many struggles, such as being fooled by people. Also back stab by people close to us and no support from our peers. We lost money on the way and certain people doing bad things so we can fail. It’s been tough when you think everything is going the right way and then suddenly takes a turn.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kings Bred – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Kings Bred is our company. It’s a hat brand and we do limited custom collections once in a while. We are known in the Latin Urban world. We are most proud that we started with an idea and now is becoming a movement. What sets us apart is that? We have combined music and fashion and are able to bring people together.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In a very near future, we plan to do an official collaboration with an Artist which is almost here and with many more artists. With our music and brand, we are excited bring a video about lifestyle. We are planning to get into the sport this year. Basketball being our first choice.
