Meet Marcie Bain of Indigenous Marketplace in Valley Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcie Bain.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcie. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
We have been working on this project for about three years. We now have a small HQ Showroom to meet with Artists in a professional setting. We currently showcase twelve local artists from the San Diego area, primarily from Valley Center. My ultimate goal is to have a large marketplace with a gallery setting made up from sixty percent (60%) or more Native American and First Nations Artists. We are a Native Owned and Operated business.

Has it been a smooth road?
Since our grand opening on October 6th, we have had lots of positive feedback from the public. We are being contacted daily by artists joining our mailing list to showcase their products in our large-scale Co-Operative Marketplace/Gallery opening in 2019.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
At this time we are located in a smaller HQ office/Showroom, We carry quality handmade items from local artists. We are in the process of obtaining a larger storefront that will be located in a new shopping area that is awaiting construction in 2019.

Once we move to the larger space our Co-Op Marketplace, our goal is to have about two hundred artists showcasing their work, and it will include a Gallery setting to showcase canvas, pottery and wearable art from various artists. We will have an online and mobile marketplace to take to off-site events.

What sets us apart from the others in addition to being a native owned and operated is our location. Having a store in a small country town with five local reservations nestled around us, (Rincon, San Pasqual, Pauma, Pala, and Pechanga), as well as the other reservations in San Diego County that are within an hours drive to the south of us and in east county.

Our current showroom gives our artists and customers a feel of what to expect when we move to the larger scale marketplace. What makes me proud of our company is that everything is quality handmade by local artists which at this point the majority stay at home moms! I am proud to network with other “Mompreneurs” on this journey. We are truly blessed to have their trust in us so we can all grow and build each other up!

In keeping with the “handmade theme,” we will have custom built displays made for the entire showroom from local woodworkers, keeping any store-bought displays to a minimum. Definitely follow us on all social media platforms to stay connected on our journey and stop by to check out our amazing selection of goods we carry.
