Today we’d like to introduce you to Marienda Gates.
Hi Marienda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a little girl in elementary school I always knew I’d be a leader & teacher at some capacity. I was selected (voted in) to be the President of the first bank inside a school in my hometown of Milwaukee, WI. I was on the news and in the local newspaper. I can remember giving my speech with no fear. I actually enjoyed being in front of cameras. Throughout my teen years in high school and as an adult people were drawn to me due to how I carried myself and my pleasant personality.
I learned a lot of skills as far as becoming a business owner & Minister from my late auntie, Bessie Carter. I worked for her as a volunteer in her family child care business. When I became of age I was hired as an assistant childcare teacher. I obtained the necessary trainings/certifications and became her Director. After learning much about this particular industry, I later became a family-based daycare owner myself. I also attended church with my aunt and later got ordained as a licensed Minister & Pastor. I love learning and teaching and helping others become their best version of themselves. Which is why I’m currently a certified Life & Etiquette Coach, Mentor, and Author.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My overall journey to becoming a mature woman definitely had its struggles. I had to truly learn who I was and what the true nature of my existence was for. I had my first child at 20. I was blessed to have a great support system. So raising my son was not difficult for me because of my family dynamic. As every young adult I went through some struggles in personal relationships.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Royal-Alliances is an organization that caters to the educational development of youth, teens and adults in the areas of proper etiquette, job readiness and mentorship.
I’m known for hosting educational workshops/ trainings in various communities throughout the U.S. for our youth, young adults and adults.
What sets me apart is the approach I take to gain the respect and overall participation from the students. My students are always very respectful and eager to learn. I aim to have the environment very welcoming and friendly. So they feel comfortable opening up.
I’m most proud brand wise is the name of my business, Royal-Alliances. The next generation should see themselves as royalty because they are. With the right teaching, guidance & understanding there’s nothing that they can’t accomplish and fulfill. It starts with having confidence, self-esteem and integrity.
