Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Garcia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Marissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a passionate, loving, ray of energy and light that is here to make a positive impact in your life. My focus is to share the love I have in an environment that thrives in bringing people together. I stay Zen with yoga, meditation, eating well, and practicing Pilates. I enjoy going out to dinner quite often and I feel it creates a sense of togetherness that is sometimes hard to find and I also believe eating and going out for dinner should always be a Spiritual Experience.
I came from a town called Imperial Valley and have lived in San Diego for about seven years now. Coming from a small desert town I was not really sure where to start here and ended up working at Saiko Sushi on Coronado Island. The restaurant’s, now with a second location in North Park, opened my eyes and showed me what a beautiful thing culinary art is. I was able to learn about the culinary scene and found out how important nourishing your body and having a fun time while doing really is. It is all about the experience.
Ironside Fish and Oyster was my next journey (and the best one by far!) This place is family, I learned so much while working for Consortium Holdings and I am so grateful for everything I have and am continuing to, experience. I am sure you have heard of Craft & Commerce, Born & Raised, False Idol, Noble Experiment and more! Showing people a great time while having the most amazing spiritual experience WHILE nurturing your body is a beautiful, amazing thing and this is where I believe I have the power to share and create this amazing part of life.
My other passion is making crystal crowns for my friends and I have always wanted to take it to the next level. My next project is to create my own company that sells crystal art. I’ve been inspired most by my friend Jessica Cortez of Tierra Alchemy. She is a creator of plant macrame hangers, crystal macrame earrings, dreamcatchers, so many beautiful items! You can find her on Instagram as @tierraalchemy “Celebrating the elements of our Earth through crafts and culture”.
Another amazing inspiration is all our ladies at Ritual Burlesque. Ritual Burlesque is a woman empowerment show.
We have so many beautiful performers. Our very own Jessica Cortez of Tierra Alchemy is one of the producers along with my friend Shacole Hamlett. Our annual show will return in October or November 2018! Take a sneak peek and check our @Ritualburlesque Instagram!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road for me wasn’t always easy. My mother passed away in August of 2017. She was my other half, my best friend, my inspiration. We always told each other that the hummingbird was our spirit animal. Whenever I see a hummingbird I always think of her. She is the light of my life and she will always be. She was the most hardworking woman I have ever known and she did everything for my sister and I and she is the one who made us who we are today.
My sister, @nenagarciablog, has been my rock and is my ultimate inspiration. She is what keeps me going. We have learned that through this all, we only have each other. We are our rocks and we will do whatever it takes to make sure we are doing the best we can. She is such an empowering woman and I am lucky to have her as my sister.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mitzyypie – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am launching a Blog and Vlog website, Mitzyypie, that will be my platform for sharing what I know best, EATING. I am known for being a ray of light and knowing all the best places to dine. You want to enjoy a nice breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner let me know and I will show you the best Spiritual Experience you can have while dining. Keep in mind this does NOT only mean going out and spending money, you can also support local farmers markets and pick up your own food and cook at home. The experience does not change and you can create your own intimate sense of togetherness at home with your loved ones.
I always make sure to have “family dinners” at home at least once a week. By family, I mean loved ones, friends, friends of friends, coworkers, anyone who you have a good connection with. I enjoy cooking and I LOVE nurturing the tummies and souls of my friends and family.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my personality and my happiness. I always look on the bright side. There is always a reason to be happy more than there is a reason to be sad. The thing is we just have to remember to take everything one day at a time. Go with the flow of life and everything will fall into place as it should. Remember you also have to make your dreams come to life though, it is all about balance.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to starting my blog/vlog and cannot wait to share this with you all. This will be launching in early July and I am most eager to show what I am coming up with! I will also be collaborating with local artist’s of all kind on my site to share their creations and why/ how they got where they are and where they are going.
The goal is to inspire others to create and to let their soul open up to the happiness that comes with creating and sharing what you love and believe in.
