Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquis Tipton.
Marquis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, that’s a great question, it started when I decided years ago that I’m going to love what I do so I don’t have to work a day in my life. Fast forward to reconnecting with my family Nate Howard at the Monarch School (a school impacted by homelessness, serves k-12, one class of every grade), where he helped motivate me take that leap of faith into being a Serial Entrepreneur (which was my real dream, just wasn’t sure 100% sure on how exactly I might do it).
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe no path is smooth sailings, from dealing with family members in and out the hospital to having to move on from companies that I hold dear to my heart. But those are the moments that made me who I am today!
Please tell us about Imports Worldwide.
I’m a freelance Creative Consultant and Co-Founder/Creative Director of Imports Worldwide (designer and luxury fashion company). As a creative consultant, I specialize in content development (including brand development, website development and video production), as well as marketing. Imports Worldwide is known for and specialize in bridging the gap between art, fashion, and opulence.
I’m most proud of being able to say even during the COVID-19 pandemic as a creative consultant. I was able to bring joy to people’s day helping out with the VERZUZ battles (by SwizzBeats & Timbaland) on Instagram Live. As for Imports, I am most proud of the dedication to the craft and the company. Fashion is one of the hardest industries to crack into, especially high end. We have a long way to go, but if you can’t stop to smell the roses now, you’ll never be happy in the long run, which is why I’m proud of where we are at today!
What sets me apart as a consultant and a luxury company is that we don’t worry about being different, just being yourself is enough. As long as me, as a consultant and Imports as a company continues to be ourselves, we will Always stick out!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am going to continue to do exactly what I am doing now as a consultant and designer company, just on a larger scale and impact more people’s lives as time goes on. We have a lot of things coming, which you will see unfold once the Pandemic is over and we can be outside again. I believe in sharing results not ideas.
