Meet MaryRose Reaston of Yoga Your Way

Today we’d like to introduce you to MaryRose Reaston.

Hi MaryRose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yoga Your Way was born out of friendship, passion, and a shared belief that wellness is for everyone.
Our story began over 40 years ago when two college roommates — Anne-Marie Finch and MaryRose Reaston — developed a lifelong bond rooted in shared values of health, movement, and community. Over the years, that bond evolved into a vision: to create a wellness platform that welcomes people of all ages, abilities, and walks of life.
We founded Yoga Your Way as a women-owned company to inspire individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. What began as small community gatherings grew into a vibrant wellness movement on the beaches of Carlsbad, California. We believe that age is a state of mind — and that by nurturing our bodies through yoga, Pilates, barre, and mindful movement, we can live healthier, happier lives and help others do the same.
Our team has grown over time, incorporating incredible women who have contributed their energy and spirit along the way. Most recently, we’ve been fortunate to welcome Nick Carpaccio — an experienced and multi-talented practitioner known for his dynamic flows, creative sequencing, and empowering teaching style. Nick brings a deep understanding of yoga as both an art and a practice, enhancing the richness and diversity of what we offer.
Today, Yoga Your Way is proud to offer inclusive, outdoor classes facing the Pacific Ocean — a space where community, movement, and nature come together. We are more than a fitness program; we are a wellness community built on friendship, empowerment, and the belief that taking care of yourself can be joyful, accessible, and deeply transformative.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d love to say it’s been smooth sailing — especially since we love the beach and the water — but like any meaningful journey, there have been waves along the way.
In building Yoga Your Way, we’ve faced our share of challenges. One of the biggest has been finding our footing and growing our community. Along this path, many wonderful women have joined us — some for a reason, some for a season, and a few for a lifetime. Our constant has been each other and our shared passion for making wellness, yoga, and fitness accessible to everyone.
We’ve explored many different avenues to bring wellness to the community — from stand-up paddleboard yoga to wellness retreats — but our signature offerings have become our beach classes. Yoga Your Way is proud to be the only provider in North County offering Beach Pilates, Beach Barre, and Acro Yoga right on the sand.
Reaching the right audience — people who not only show up but truly grow with us — has taken time, creativity, and perseverance. But just like learning to ride a wave, we’ve found our rhythm. We’re now seeing our community grow stronger and more connected, and that’s the most rewarding part of this journey.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue expanding our offerings, including more creative class styles and wellness retreats in 2026. Every challenge has taught us to stay flexible, stay inspired, and most of all, stay true to our mission.

As you know, we’re big fans of Yoga Your Way. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Yoga Your Way is more than a class — it’s a community and a movement built on friendship, passion, and a shared belief that wellness should be accessible to everyone. We are a women-owned wellness brand rooted in inclusivity, movement, and the natural beauty of the California coast. What makes us unique is our signature outdoor experience: we’re proud to be the only provider in North County San Diego offering Beach Pilates, Beach Barre, and Acro Yoga right on the sand at Tamarack State Beach. Practicing with the sound of the waves, the ocean breeze, and the sun on your skin creates a powerful and grounding connection that goes far beyond a studio setting. Our classes are designed for all levels — from beginners to seasoned practitioners — and include everything from sunrise yoga and sunset barre to stand-up paddleboard yoga, wellness retreats, and special events. We believe in helping others on their wellness journey not only as practitioners but also as teachers, which is why we offer mentorship opportunities for young yogis who want to share their practice and teach in the field. We’re proud to collaborate with local businesses to host donation-based community events that give back, and we’re deeply committed to creating an environment where people feel welcome, supported, and inspired. At its heart, Yoga Your Way is about empowerment, joy, and connection — to self, to community, and to nature.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has played an unexpected but powerful role in our journey. We launched Yoga Your Way just as COVID hit, with plans to host live wellness classes in schools and for women’s groups. What could have been seen as bad luck quickly became a turning point. Instead of retreating, we pivoted — bringing our practice outdoors and online. We started offering paddleboard yoga and virtual classes, creating new ways to connect with people when they needed it most. In many ways, what began as a challenge became a gift: it allowed us to build a community grounded in flexibility, resilience, and creativity. We’ve always believed in the healing power of nature, and our “studio” has the most beautiful backdrop — the Pacific Ocean. All of our classes, retreats, and wellness offerings are centered around water, reminding us that just like the ocean, life flows best when we learn to ride the waves rather than fight them.
