Mayra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hello my name is Mayra, I’m from Oaxaca, Mexico. I’m 27 years old, I came to the United states in 2008, studied three year of high school. I graduated in 2011 in Vineland New Jersey. I moved in 2012 to San Diego. I started to work on Burger King because my English wasn’t enough. Then, I started my business of housecleaning, which I got lots of references, it been a successful from there to now.
One time, a couple told me they needed to travel and they didn’t have no body to take care of the dogs, I offer myself to watched them, that’s how I stated my pet sitting services and house sitting. I’m not the only one who watched them, I am the hero. It is a good paid, and I find out it was a good time and for me is like vacation, I got feeling for pets, they are like humans, besides, I got my third business as caregiver. I can say nothing can hold you if you don’t give up do what you love to do!! Be polite and let people see the food things of you. It’s been ten years and God is been so faithful, with me. Thank you.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sometimes it’s hard to deal with clients, that’s why I always tell them please to let know if I’m not doing a great job or not giving a good service. It helps me a lot, so that way your open, and the only thing is I wish I can have a twin, so it can be helpful and help everybody, that need the service, because I’m pack.
Mayita pet sitter – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As my journey, of my business services goes, for house cleaning service. For my pet sitting and house sitting is taking care of my little pet friends, take them for a walk. Feed them, washed them, and for the caregiver service I help them with groceries, errands, appointments, especially with dementia patient, organized medications, just bring them hope, and make their lives better, and easy without worries. I think each business has their own services, and each one has their own clients, for me is as I say treat them nice, be reliable, responsible, and they can count on you!!!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Well, for my cleaning company is that I love to clean, my mom always showed me that life wasn’t easy so for us is better if we can learn anything, and all things are possible. For pet sitting, I got a dog for a long time, she lives like ten years of humans year, she was like out family, her name was canela, but one time we left her with my grandma, the she died the reason was for sadness. And for my caregiver service, when I was little my great grandfather was dying I saw him in bed but I wasn’t strong to talked to him and say something, I saw him suffering, for one night the day after he died, I hug him so hurt, and after that I help lots of elderly people.
