Meet the Members Of Wildeor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Brickwood, Caleb Conner and Mark Bassett of Wildeor.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We met in Southern California, coming from different parts of the U.S. to pursue careers in music. I grew up in a remote area of Northern California, Caleb is from San Diego and Mark made an across-country move from New Jersey. We started playing music together in 2016. I’d spent a few years playing as a solo artist and decided I wanted to start a band. I put the word out, met Mark by pure luck and happenstance, Caleb responded to an email and the rest is history. We’ve been great friends and band mates ever since.

Please tell us about your art.
Our music brings together an eclectic mix of musical influences centered around a strong emotional core. It has a bit of an old-world, epic feel but with a modern sensibility. It has the ability to transport the listener in his or her imagination but also connect with powerful emotions.

I hope that the music moves people in some way. I hope that it delights someone, that it surprises someone, that it helps someone know that she or he is not alone in feeling a certain way. I hope that people enjoy listening to it but I also want it to reach them on a deeper level. The message truly depends on the song.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
It’s a difficult balance, because oftentimes artists have to fund their own projects, but they also need to dedicate time to work on those projects (for which they will often not recoup their costs, at least for a while). It creates a bit of a bind. I would say every artist has to find a balance that works for her or him. Discover what fuels you creatively, or what drains you creatively, and try to find something that works around your creative rhythm. Also, don’t assume that whatever comes with the highest price tag is what you have to go for. There are budget-friendly ways of creating art. It can require a bit of digging, but that’s how you find some of the best things – innovative practices, creative partnerships, and so on. Necessity is the mother of invention.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Our music is available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and all other music streaming platforms. We also have a website: http://wildeormusic.com and post regular updates and information about our work on our Instagram @wildeormusic.
