Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Limon.
Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Megan Ameral Limon. Just call me your modern Doula. My perspective comes from a very modern place, supporting and empowering postpartum families! While I’m all about using essential oils and breast milk to heal everything, my modern approach to motherhood makes my practice relatable and simplistic. I am a DONA certified postpartum doula with six years of experience supporting families!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our lives are ever changing. So it truly isn’t ever going to be a smooth road to anything worth the energy and time. Aren’t mountains always the ones challenging, exciting and worth climbing? The same with my practice. It comes with the challenge of staying motivated, growing in compassion and education. Staying grounded and human as possible while balancing the business aspects.
Please tell us about your work.
I was trained at Bastyr University through DONA, Doulas of North America. I decided afterward I would become certified to have the motivation to keep my practice within the scope and have a code of ethics to adhere to. My business is ever changing but my focus is always on being grounded as possible. Supporting the needs of clients by accommodating the days and times they need to thrive. Focusing on giving them the tools they need to thrive and allowing their experience to “market” what I do for others. I am not one to pay for ads or look to connecting with company’s to get my name out there. I truly believe every family that searches and finds my practice needs it. And I need their experience to enrich my education and practice. It’s truly a gift!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
2020 is very exciting for my practice! My experience with postpartum families has been enriched for the past six years. With that being said, my pricing will be adjusting to the economic climate. Supporting local business means everything to me! I take the time to purchase from local San Diego woman’s businesses versus ordering it quickly on Amazon. It’s quality, it’s helping provide income for my community and it’s thoughtful. That thoughtfulness, consciousness, is that I want to attract to my business.
