Meet Megan Weckesser and Amber McGinn of SparklEyezed Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Weckesser and Amber McGinn.

What once began with just a girl and her camera, taking landscape photos and exploring her love for macro photography, has turned into something much more than she could have ever dreamed. This year, Megan Weckesser, founder of SparklEyezed Photography, celebrates the first anniversary of her portrait photography company as of January 2018, alongside her two business partners, Amber McGinn and Cherie Hohn-Gomez.

SparklEyezed Photography was created in 2017 due to increasing demand for Megan’s portraiture. The company’s name comes from Megan’s nickname, Sparkles, that was lovingly bestowed upon her due to her love of rhinestones and glitter. The company slogan “Capturing that special sparklier every moment,” seemed like a natural fit after reviewing images that she had captured of her clients. She seemed to capture moments that melted hearts and she loved the idea of being able to deliver those moments.

When the company first began, most of their clients desired family portraits or children portraits. Since the company’s inception, it has now grown to include individual sessions, couples sessions, maternity sessions, newborn sessions, boudoir sessions and weddings.

In August 2017, Megan made a life-changing decision and decided to move up to Cottage Grove, Oregon, where she plans on expanding her portrait business. Not wanting to leave the San Diego Market entirely, Megan enlisted the help of a photographer she had kept her eye on all year, Amber McGinn wand asked her to join the SparklEyezed Photography Team, to help keep their presence in San Diego.

Megan still visits San Diego frequently, and Megan and Amber shoot often as a pair, with the help of Cherie Hohn-Gomez who has been brought on board as yet another photographer, and a marketing assistant. The trio often works together for large scale productions such as boudoir sessions and weddings.

Megan is a mother of one, who now lives in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Her passions include hiking, nature, and a love for landscapes, sceneries and macro photography. She generally satisfies her own photography cravings by loading her three dogs up in a truck and hitting the road, in an attempt to fill her wanderlust.

Amber McGinn is a San Diego based photographer whose focus is portrait and landscape photography. With her love of hiking and exploration on trails throughout San Diego, she has been able to capture beautiful landscapes. As a wife and mother to three boys she fully enjoys the craziness of a busy life. You can currently see some of her photographs hanging in one of the many IT businesses in the Sorrento Valley area.

Cherie Hohn-Gomez is a wife and mother of two beautiful girls. When the hustle and bustle of the busy mom life isn’t calling her, Cherie enjoys hiking and getting out in nature. She also has a passion for cooking and painting with friends, and has been known to seek occasional thrills like sky diving.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With photography being the way it is these days, there is plenty of competition out there. The road hasn’t always been easy going, and we have all had to put in our fair share of free photo sessions just to build our portfolios. But the way we see it is that we get out of this experience what we put into it. So even though a photo session may only be an hour long, we spend countless hours of editing to make sure the final product is something you’ll want to frame on your wall for years to come. For us, our greatest moment is when someone reviews their images and tells us that they cried going through them all. That right there is what we strive for… creating memories that are worthy of being framed and out on a wall to admire for years to come.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SparklEyezed Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We strive to give clients more than traditional photographers. We offer competitive pricing, full edits, color images, black and white images, and color pop images all free of charge. Additionally, we offer our clients a secure online proofing gallery, a thumb drive with their final images, and a digital video for social media sharing which summarizes all their favorite moments from their session. The best part? We work diligently to get you your final images within 7 days.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plans for the future are still evolving, but Megan currently has aspirations to join forces with photographers up and down the west coast. While that dream may still be a ways of, for now the girls of SparklEyezed Photography are content creating memories for other while watching their own children grow and flourish.
