Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Cummings
Hi Melissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a little girl I loved picking and playing with flowers.
My babysitter when I was younger had a flower shop and I would sit at her shop and make small basket arrangements.
Sometimes they would sell and i would get So excited!
As I got older and started my first job at a local grocery store I got into the floral department. I learned a lot about changing water and what was fresh and what needed to be tossed out as my career blossoms I ended up working for many different prominent floral shops in the San Diego area learning from many talented floral designers who I am still friends with today!
My mother Flora, drove by this cute little flower shop, but of course we have seen for years because we lived in the area. Ask the owner if she was willing to sell into our surprise she said yes!
Here we are almost 14 years later in sunny pacific beach a little beach town in San Diego.
Our shop is a mother and daughter team! I have worked very hard at training my mom yes Flora, as in Flower in the floral business. She is a business woman and has owned coffee businesses .
She was born in Holland and also as loved flowers as a child as well! We are
Both very into nature and the ocean and enjoy meeting new customers who turn in to friends!
We have turned this little corner at Garnet and Haines Avenue in Pacific Beach into a blooming business full of happiness. We do daily deliveries and small to large events.
On a daily basis’ I get a new Customer saying I drive by all the time and I’ve always wanted to stop in.
Every time I drive by your shop it always makes me smile.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid was quite the challenge for us but we managed to handle it all with bringing happiness to to the community in Flowers!

Well ….. duh FLOWERS! All of them! Have you ever met a flowers that says I don’t like sunflowers? Well come on now , we are a florist and a designer of nature. How can you not like all of them!!!
