Today we’d like to introduce you to Meradith Castillo.
Hi Meradith, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This path with photography started with the beginning of covid, thinking I’d only pick up my camera to take pictures of my son next thing i know then it was my friend’s and family a year passed and they started telling their friends and families so i Upgraded my equipment because I had fallen in love with photography!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been as smooth as I wished ,The hardest part was reaching out to photographers for help & I did not get that help , so i had to figure it out on my own and it was not easy Long days sometimes even crying because I couldn’t figure out photoshop or light room let alone settings on my camera , but i feel like a lot of photographers go through the same thing and id like to change that for people who want to learn this craft.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a part-time hairdresser during the week and weekends its all photography which is what I’m most known for, It makes me happy to see how far I’ve come that I have consistency with the people i photograph its a bond you create and become part of there lives
at the moment what I’m focused on is getting a new studio with other photographers .. we actually just got approved to get a new place that I haven’t told anyone about im just now putting this out there can’t wait to put this studio together with my colleagues/friends!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years i hope to have a bigger studio to rent out to other creatives & teach them the things that i know maybe even have a whole team of photographers for events
