Meet Micaela Deanna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Micaela Deanna.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I took a photography class in high school so I could finally have a class with my best friend. It turns out my friend dropped the class & my new best friend became photography. I did not take it seriously at all at first but my teacher Mr. Ryker certainly saw something in me that did not. He always said that my passion was strong enough to accomplish anything. With those encouraging words, I continued photographing. I then combined my love for music & realized that concert photography was my niche & passion. The creative route is never the easiest, but that’s what makes it so much more exhilarating.

Please tell us about your art.
I love creating long-lasting memories. Having the ability to capture the specific & special moments in somebody’s life is truly a gift I love doing. My photography is inspired by concerts especially because of the atmosphere. The low lights, energic crowds, & moving subjects do make it difficult at times, but that’s what makes it so fun. You never know what’s going to happen on that stage because it’s not a controlled environment, being kept on my toes is what excites me! My art is a combination of concert & portrait photography with the images typically being very vibrant, high energy, colorful, & each one being able to convey a unique story. I hope others can see that my photography can spark a connection with all types of people & fans of the bands I shoot. It creates a sense of community with complete strangers which is so amazing.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The biggest struggle for artists is definitely also our biggest strength which is social media. Being able to promote yourself to the whole Internet from the touch of your fingertips is outstanding, but there are millions of other people trying to do the exact same thing. While living in a world where the fight for likes & followers is against an Instagram famous dog who has more clout than me. It’s very easy to get discouraged but always remember, as long as the hard work that is being put out is full of passion it will be rewarded.
