Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Button.

Michelle, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Humanist, Citizen of the Earth, Visionary, Vibrational Healer, Social Entrepreneur, Well being and spirituality advisor, music therapist, water Protector, Promoter of a Culture of Peace, the Rights of Mother Nature and the Rights of the Rivers. Founder and Co-Creator of Xicome (Music Festival to promote Peace, www.xicome.org) and President of the Institute of Music and Healing Arts for Peace (NGO). Co-founder Rios Vivos Atoyac Xicome (Rivers Alive) riosvivos.org and the Integrative Medicine and Holistic Healing Forum & Festival. Born in Mexico, raised in La Jolla, went to All Hallows and the Bishop´s School. I graduated with a Bachelors’s in BA from the University of San Diego. Studied in Tours, France at École Supérieure de Commerce.

After the University I went to Mexico City and began working in production with Siempre en Domingo from Televisa. Shortly after I began a seven year career in Public Relations and marketing for a group in Mexico who had the franchises for Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Official All Star Cafe, Rainforest Cafe and Emporio Armani. I was fortunate to have the best training during the Golden years of these brands, I went from this amazing career in production, public relations and communication to set up a boutique agency for luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, Mini Cooper, Habita Hotels, Cuervo, H Stern. Becoming also a well known DJ in the house music scene. My love for music and its power started at a young age. Through my passion for music and public relations, I began to develop the idea of producing an International Music Festival to create Awareness on Environmental issues. At that time, people looked at me like “what are you talking about”. As if I had come from another Planet.

In 2004 I went through an important life experience spiritual awakening, making me reflect and decide that my knowledge and experience could be applied to benefit society on a social level and for the evolution of Humanity. Thus I commenced exploring the indigenous cultures and their profound wisdom. As I continued developing the Festival. Understanding that it was fundamental to have an overview.

During these years, I have had the honor of walking with different wisdom keepers and Elders from distinct tribes and indigenous cultures, receiving initiations in Shamanic teachings. I underwent a personal self-evolution process and have been studying techniques related to Holistic and Integrative medicine. I received a degree as a Humanistic Musictheraphist, Reiki master, SoundTouch Therapist, Sweat Lodge facilitator, integrating Eastern and Western World practices.

Spending many years in the study of energy, vibration, sound, music and consciousness, acknowledging that science and spirituality, music and medicine are complementary and belong to a higher level of technology.

I specialize in the art of singing bowls and Sacred sounds with her research linking humanistic music therapy and sound therapy and the teachings of ancient civilizations. Sharing sounds, frequencies and vibrations to awaken the memory of our connection with the Divine integrating and expanding awareness for the development of human potential reaching the deep space of the Self to raise the vibration based on universal Love.

My spiritual and human development process is based on my path of life, living, learning, walking, risking, falling, evolving, changing, experiencing and accepting myself to live in respect and in love with and for all my relations. I consider myself a conscious visionary, dedicated to creating environmental awareness, preserving culture, promoting the arts, creating spaces for integrative medicine and holistic healing,

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Walking the path is part of the journey in this school of life. As I always share, the path comes with everything, detours, hills, cobblestones, dead ends, smooth roads, straight roads, etc. There have been times where I have wanted to throw the towel. It seems in this world that those who have a calling of service go through harder struggles. It is ironic, yet I have concluded that these are challenges from the Universe to test our drive to follow our path. Especially when you go out on your own to create a dream. Time, energy, money, sweat is put into it no matter what. As a healer, one goes through a process that does not happen in a weekend workshop. And as they say, walk your talk. It has been many years of struggle to be at this point today, where I can say that all the effort is just beginning to give its fruits.

Please tell us about your business.
My business has a series of branches. I offer individual sessions, workshops, conferences, courses, spiritual retreats and transformative travel, cacao ceremonies, Sacred plant ceremonies, spiritual coaching, spiritual unions, produce festivals and Sacred gatherings, women´s circles, write, and travel around the globe.

Every other year I produce a festival. Born as a dream from a deep calling in my soul, I co-created Xicome, a Festival of World Music and Healing Arts to promote a Culture of Peace through a multicultural platform. Xicome (pronounced Shicome) signifies number seven in Nahuatl, an indigenous language in Mexico.

The organization is committed to promoting peace, art, science, spirituality, awareness, health and wellness, honor millinery cultures, encourage human development and spiritual growth, human rights, investigation and research, and the power of sound and music, in benefit of all sentient beings and groups of society to generate a transformation in the collective and individual consciousness and intelligence to live in harmony and a culture of peace as a Humanity.

A member of the United Nations of the Spirit, Kiva Kumbhamela, Chaski Fest, World Conscious Pact, Rights of Mother Nature, I am pretty much on the go. What makes me proud is that it was born from a seed of love, deep from my heart to share with the world.

My leimotiv is “Music is Food for the Soul, where the Language is Sound and Music, the Medicine is Love, the Intention is the Union, and the Gift is the Light, to open up to the Harmony of Life”.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is inspiring to others. Being in service for the benefit of others, touching hearts, Sharing tools to others for their growth. I consider myself successful when one person comes to me and says, “Your work or your sound or your festival or your message has changed my life”. We are all connected. And if you are successful, I am successful. If you are inspired, I am inspired. If you heal, I heal. May all beings be happy.
