Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Moore.
Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
With a heavy background in Advertising, working as a creative director for years in a cutthroat industry had left me needing a space to chill and express myself.
Right around the downturn of the market felt like a good time to turn around my life and work for myself… studied Fine art as an undergraduate with a few stints abroad, my hands were aching to pound some metal, paint or sculpt again.
Added to that my passion for travel and connection to all things that need fixing in our society… My studio opened.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was asked about my challenges. As a small business owner, your biggest challenge is time management. There is one of you and a thousand tasks. Getting familiar with apps and programs that do some of the work for you, hiring a social media group to handle some of the load and showing up every day to do what I do best are my best recipe for success.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about 7 Stitches Jewelry – what should we know?
Once I launched, I went the traditional routs of a Showroom in LA and started on the road shows and fashion shows…This had opened many doors for me, including photo shoots with celebs and clients like Anthropologie and FreePeople.
I had since scaled back my workshop, and focus on custom pieces (I absolutely LOVE made to order pieces) and new collections inspired by my travel. My workshop and showroom are open to the public, where I also offer limited project driven classes where we re-purpose your broken jewelry into new pieces…
