Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Moore.
Studied Fine Art abroad for 5 years + 2 years at the Academy of art in SF.
Worked in commercial art and advertising as a creative director for over 15 years.
In 2009, decided to pursue personal interests and applied her skills and knowledge to open her own studio and art – the 7Stitches jewelry label was launched.
A working studio and gallery, open to the public, located at Liberty Station.
Current clients include Anthropologie, Free people and Four Seasons Resorts.
As a longtime activist, she donates 20% of all proceeds to a careful selection of non-profits that focus on child trafficking, slavery, human rights and animal vivisection.
Concurrently, Michelle is working on a new series of paintings focusing on portraits of females that had influenced her development and shaped her worldview through their actions.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Making a living from your craft is possibly the hardest life one can choose but also the most gratifying.
Defining who you are and what you’re about, then distilling your message and staying true to it with your craft has been challenging and rewarding.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 7Stitches Jewelry Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I travel the world, that is one of my passions. As I mingle in markets and learn about new cultures, I bring back many elements with me.
Embroideries, ceremonial charms, beads etc. Later these are incorporated in my work to give the wearer a sense of connection to something greater. I purchase from conflict free, fair trade and mostly small women owned and operated co-ops around the world. I collaborate with many businesses to create collections for them as long as their mission is on track with mine. (example: raven and lily)
My work is contemporary with a boho feel, working with leather and pearls as well as hammered metals and fibers. I am known for my men’s collection, custom work and limited editions.
Supporting the causes I do empowers me and energizes me to do more.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am a great believer in Serendipity as an outcome of Karma. What might seem as luck is an unravelling of previous acts… It is a constant not a singular event…and I have had many!

I absolutely LOVE the gorgeously-crafted 7 stitches jewelry I own.
I have purchased several unique pieces and given away a few pieces as well-received gifts. I love that the pieces have elements purchased from small co-ops around the world and represent different cultures outside of my own.
The fact that 20% of the purchase price is donated makes justification for buying these quality pieces of art from this woman-owned business a no-brainer.

I love 7 Stitches jewelry! Everything is a gorgeous, unique work of art! I’ve had the privilege of meeting the owner. She is as beautiful a person as the wonders she creates.
