Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Aponte.
Miranda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to butterflies. Who hasn’t? They are these spectacular creatures that nourish, isolate, pupate, spread their wings and fly. They undergo a marvelous metamorphosis. Over the last six years of my life, I’ve been in a cocoon of sorts myself. I’ve self-studied dozens of herbs. I’ve tried many different healing modalities from acupuncture to hypnosis to talk therapy. I attended workshops and learned from healers of all kinds.
The quest I embarked upon (and am still on, forever and always) was to get to the heart of me. To live from that place in every single moment that I can. To excavate subconscious patterns and fully integrate my shadow self. To live freely and wildly from my soul. Mariposa is a space I created during a time of grief. I lost my grandmother who was the first medicine woman I’d ever encountered. Through her passing I realized how much her passions and natural gifts live on through me. I wanted to share what I’ve learned and my innate knowings with others. Mariposa is a collection of lessons I’ve learned on healing. I highlight healers in the San Diego community and beyond. It’s in its very early stages and just launched in March. There are plans in the works to grow and support underprivileged youth communities with resources on healing and plant medicine.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the main goals of Mariposa was to make healing accessible to all! Throughout the upsetting events in this country last week and getting a crash course on the severity of racial disparities in this country, it’s clear that Mariposa has a lot more work to do in making that goal a reality. I am committing to continue educating myself on what it means to make a platform truly accessible to all. As I learn and grow in understanding how to reach communities that need healing the most, Mariposa will be implementing new ways to serve our local San Diego community and the world at large.

Mariposa specializes in sharing an array of healing modalities from shadow to inner child work to herbal remedies to astrology and more. Mariposa offers tarot readings for those looking for other worldly guidance and to connect with their own spiritual counsel. The primary mission is to make healing accessible through understanding different modalities and helping others to tap into ways that best work for them to become in tune with their own inner nature. To love themselves and look at their lives from a holistic viewpoint, meeting their inner needs and extending that out into their exterior. As we learn to love ourselves and practice compassion and healing in our relationship to ourselves we become stewards of the Earth and allies to our humankind.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Mariposa has so many exciting plans in the works: learning and teaching more about healing modalities, hosting events to practice stewardship to Mother Earth, becoming a wellness and healing space that is inclusive — sharing voices of color, creating partnerships with non-profits and offering impoverished communities healing resources and education. I also just officially launched tarot sessions to offer guidance and tools to empower life choices and perdonal will power. I personally bring my counsel of angels, ancestors and spirits to help me send you the messages your God is wanting you to hear.
