Today we’d like to introduce you to Ozmosis.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my music career after I graduated high school in 2013 as a way to keep me out of trouble. I didn’t take it seriously but I enjoyed making music and rapping. I joined the Marines and ended up and San Diego. I was still working on my music and started to notice the steady increase of streams and followers and positive messages from my audience.
Living in SD has done a lot for my development as an artist. I best describe my music as pop-rap, music you would want to vibe to or have playing in the background as you enjoy the pleasures of San Diego. Chill rap feels natural to me, so I want to make the best of it and have been blessed with a great fan base that has made me want to keep creating good music that is different from today’s modern sound. I feel hiphop is oversaturated with a specific style and I want to be different, be more personal with my music but also provide the best of vibes, like Childish Gambino and Mick Jenkins for example. I’m currently working on my next album for 2021 and will have some new releases later on in 2020.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only real struggle is finding who to trust, there are a lot of people who try to take advantage of local or upcoming artist. Everyone’s trying to sell you the dream but finding people with genuine intentions to help you is the real test.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a hip hop artist, I specialize in the electronic/pop rap genre and lo-fi genre of rap. I’m known mostly for my heavy emphasis on vibe and mood, whatever that may be. I want to provide a vibe so palpable to the listener’s atmosphere that it will put them in a trance and they can just zone out listening to it. I’m not like most artist that heavily emphasize the material life, which is nice, but I like to keep a balance of the material life and my personal thoughts and experiences.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Football is my true passion, so when I was 12 my mom finally let me play tackle football. I was having trouble finding a sport that I was good at. I was fast, but that was it. My very first play of tackle football I ran a 70 yard touchdown. Nothing beats the euphoria of scoring your first touchdown and I still play to this day.
