Today we’d like to introduce you to Nacre Meng.
Nacre, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My skincare story started when I was a teenager. I had friends that suffered from acne. I was blessed to not have problematic skin, so I didn’t have to deal with it but it broke my heart to see people I loved suffer with it. I really wanted to help, so I started doing research to try and help them as much as I could… and when I was able to help, I brought me so much joy. I just love helping bringing out people’s self-confidence. Skin has a lot to do with one’s confidence. It’s the first thing we see when we meet with and interact with people.
After high school, I started working as a spa coordinator for sixteen spa professionals. I eventually got my license as a Pro Nail Technician and continued to work in spas, which led to my interest in skincare. I was introduced to high-end skincare and was obsessed!
After working in the spa environment for a while I decided to take a break to take care of my two babies. As a stay-at-home mom, I started watching beauty bloggers and became obsessed with skincare and makeup. I decided to go to school to become an Esthetician. I thrived in school… I never felt so smart. I aced every exam and completed my course with top honors at San Diego City College.
Not too long after graduating and getting my Esthetician license, I applied for a job as a beauty counter manager at a department store. I wanted to gain more knowledge in different skincare products and learn how to sell. While I was working counter manager, I worked part-time doing facials at a spa trying to build my clientele. After a year I felt comfortable with my skillset and left the department store to start Nacre Beauty.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting anything during a pandemic is nerve-racking. Between juggling my kids, finding clients, and figuring out a schedule I always had to remind myself that this is what I want; this is what I’m doing, and giving up isn’t an option. I took it one day at a time and every day it gets better.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed Esthetician in the state of California. I specialize in skincare. I do facials and recommend the best products to fit your skin type. I help you find a good skincare routine. I’m most known for my knowledge in skincare as well as my custom facials. Working in cosmetics and having product knowledge in different lines makes me proud of the fact that I always want to learn. I’m always trying to find the latest in skin trends along with the newest devices in skincare and beauty. There’s always something to learn in beauty; which is why I still take training classes to keep up.
Any big plans?
My immediate plans are to keep doing what I love. My future plans for Nacre Beauty are undecided for now, but just know I’ll be doing it with passion!
