Meet Nancy Gordon of Nancy Gordon Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Gordon.

Nancy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I fell in love with clay in 1970 in Seattle, while pregnant with my son. When we moved to Cardiff, in 1972, I continued classes at Palomar College. Soon I was trading pottery and teaching for many of my necessities and extras. This blossomed into teaching for Children Creative Workshops in Del Mar, UCSD Craft Center, The Athenaeum School for the Arts and the Rhoades School. I have received four Artist in the Schools/Community grants from The California Arts Council.

Home studio classes evolved into Summer Art Camp which will have its final summer at my studio this year. We hope to discover a new venue and allow the camp to continue with my love and support.

Has it been a smooth road?
Having a home studio reduces privacy… Making a living in the Arts is a great and wonderful challenge….. balancing production, teaching and personal studio time…. being a single mother

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nancy Gordon Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
Nancy Gordon Studio is a small private business which includes Summer Art Camp, birthday parties, scout meetings, after school and holiday classes and adult classes.
