Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Karina Medel.
Nancy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Nancy Karina Medel. I was born in Mexico City but have lived most of my life in Southern California. Art has always been the foundation of my existence. I constantly express myself through unlimited ways through art form. I am a great believer that our essence speaks poetically for the way we carry ourselves, making us art in human form. I have taken various paths that are all different from each other yet they intertwine with each other beautifully. Sacred Ocean Waters has been the product of all those paths.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Sacred Ocean Waters launched on July 16th, 2020 with love from those who have been supporting me through my creative endeavors, however the path to come to this place of abundance had been a long journey full of both struggles and happy moments. I have always wanted to share my art however I used to not have the confidence to expose my creative endeavors with the public. One of the things that have helped me grow as a person and it has mirrored into my business, is always being open to new opportunities.
Sacred Ocean Waters – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sacred Ocean Waters was created with the intention to be inclusive to all-no matter what background or story one may have. These creations are to empower one’s essence. Each creation is handmade, making them each similar yet unique from each other. Inspired by mother earth and ancient wisdom. One of the unique things that Sacred Ocean Waters offers, is clip-ons for those who may not have their ears pierced or those who may just simply prefer clip on as well as making any of my dangle earrings into gauges, for those who have their ears stretched. I wanted to offer options for everyone. I’m known for the Unalome earrings, which is a symbol in Buddhism. A symbol of the cycles of life, where our paths go in swirls, from left to right, where no path is incorrect. My earrings are displayed also at Tribal Roots Tattoo and soon at Day Dream in Escondido.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
What I am most proud of at the moment is having Jhene Aiko wear my unalome earrings. I was given an opportunity to send her some earrings personally. It made my heart jump of joy when I saw her wearing them-it was a dream. I am also proud to have my creations displayed at Rock Village Shop in Carlsbad and being interviewed for SD VOYAGER! Through this journey too, it has been an honor coming together with women who are in a similar path as me, where we can learn and grow together.
