Meet Nicole Chapman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Chapman.

Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born in Miami, Florida to young parents, surviving an abusive childhood and moving around too many times, I eventually found myself moving in with my now mother in law at the age of fourteen. It was at this time where I could finally focus on my passions in life. Always wanting to get into the fashion industry, I was finally able to find opportunities with local photographers. Marrying my now-husband at the age of sixteen and enduring an overseas marriage, I was finally able to unite with him in San Diego, California; meanwhile continuing my strides towards a career in the fashion industry.

Overcoming my childhood trauma at this point in my life became easier with every photoshoot. Encompassing myself in the mindset that I can now focus on my lifelong goals gave me great pride. Being out here in San Diego I was able to go to casting calls and meet Laura James (the winner of season nineteen of America’s Top Model.) Though I was passed over for the spots they had open, I knew I have to keep trying. Now as a Mother to my beautiful eight-month-old daughter, devoted wife, and aspiring model, I find myself excited for every opportunity that comes my way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m sure like most people, I wouldn’t describe my journey as a “smooth road.” It was definitely a challenge to adjust to my new lifestyle of being a wife, mom, and aspiring model at the age of nineteen. Being across the country also means forfeiting those “grandparent babysitting privileges.” Nonetheless, with the support I do have, I continue to make it work.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Besides me doing the normal photoshoot thing, I just got done working with Romwe Fashion and being the Model on their first Live Premiere! Promoting swimwear into casual street wear. I got some great experience being live on camera in front of thousands of people and I can’t wait for more opportunities like that..

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Eventually, I plan on releasing my own fashion line. I’m looking forward to the whole process. I’ve already thought a lot of things through like the brand name, the vendors, expenses, etc.
