Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolette Pacho.
Nicolette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began teaching Yoga about ten years ago. I had just finished up my Yoga certification program as I was rediscovering myself & learning who I was after separating from my daughter’s father. My daughter was about four years old at the time. From the moment I conceived my world became completely immersed in her world. Somehow, like so many new mothers. I lost myself in it all, without even realizing it.
However, that major setback & heartache led to my passion for teaching Power Yoga. During the time of so much heartache, I felt so much healing in helping others. I’ve helped many who were going through the same type of situation, those that were dealing with divorce and or loss, individuals that were dealing with many life changing situations & even previous athletes that were literally on their last leg before resorting to surgery. It didn’t take me long to realize that Yoga was so much more than all I learned in the Certification program. It was more than basic anatomy (though it’s so extremely important for Yoga Instructors to understand proper body mechanics). Teaching yoga was about empathizing with individuals that are in pain emotionally, physically or more often than not- both emotional & physical pain. At times I felt I bit off more than I could chew.
Especially financially. I went from a steady & consistent pay as a Dental Office Manager to barely making enough to be able to pay my studio rent also to pay for my apartment & provide for my daughter. I was stressed and having business partners was a constant battle in itself. I questioned myself many times & developed doubt in my passion. In moments when I was on the verge of giving up, some miracle would always seem to present itself & it always seemed to be like a gift from God telling me to stay focused on this journey. I think I’ve experienced so many trials & tribulations that I could probably write a book. All those moments when I didn’t know what to do next, somehow passed and they’ve shaped the individual & Mother that I have become.
I read a quote once that said:
“Find three hobbies. One to make you money. One to keep you in Shape. And one to be Creative.”
I can say that I’ve nailed the last two, but over the past couple of years, I’ve been working on the first hobby. So onto my next Journey of building real estate investments/vacation properties. I’m in pursuit of my Real estate license & currently managing two personal Airbnb cabins in Lake Arrowhead. Quickly learning the ropes of hospitality, profits & loss. I plan to use everything I’ve learned, the triumphs & the tribulations to pursue a successful career in Real Estate investing. In hopes to leave a legacy behind for my daughter and nieces, so they never have to doubt themselves when it comes to pursuing their passion.
Has it been a smooth road?
I dove in head first when I opened up my first studio. I used everything I learned about marketing/managing a dental office and did the same to represent myself in the fitness industry. However, nothing could have prepared for the real life situations that occur in business. Many times I struggled to simply put food on the table, but it kept me humble. I learned what it’s like to be hungry & still wake up the next day with the same amount of drive to succeed. If that isn’t passion; I don’t know what is.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Simply put I think the one thing that sets me apart is being able to relate with people on a Personal & Real level. I can relate with the CEO of a Multi-Million Dollar company just as I can relate to the man that’s struggling to pay for a weekly session. I know both worlds. I can relate & I don’t ever mix my work with my ego. We are all one.
