Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Potter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Niki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After my daughter Hazel was born, I found myself at home with our son, then 2 and a half, and our daughter feeling alone and wanting to do something more. I didn’t want to leave the kids but felt an artistic itch. I also have always wanted to start my own business. I am so intrigued by everything about running business. I love numbers. But back to bows… I was obsessed with finding bows for my daughter and one day I just thought ” I can totally make these!” and with that idea and a few purchases on the internet, I was crafting away and making bows. The name came from our son, Beckett, who nicknamed our daughter ” Hazey Baby” when she came home from the hospital. Today, Hazey Baby Co is a fun outlet for me and I love the joy in knowing these bows are a big part of those early years in raising a baby.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not s smooth ride. I am a full-time mother of two and have recently gone back to work outside of the home three days a week. I love all my roles, (mother, wife, accountant and bow maker) but it is hard to find time to focus on my creativity for the bows. There are a lot of things I want to do with Hazey Baby, so it is hard to prioritize time for the bows when there are a lot of other things wanting my attention.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Hazey Baby Co handcrafts bows for your little ones. I sew and hand-tie each bow onto a headband or clip. I would say we are best known for the newborn suede bow headband (which is also my most favorite bow and holds a special place in my heart). These dainty little bows are perfect for tiny newborn heads and active 2 years old’s looking for a little something to add to an outfit. I am most proud of Hazey Baby because it is built by a busy mom who was looking for a creative outlet. I love that people come to the shop looking for a special or unique gift to give someone for their baby girl. I also love the new mamas buying bows to bring to the hospital and I have the privilege of making something their brand new baby gets to wear home. What sets me apart from others is that I truly love making the bows. Everything from the actual bow, to the packaging to a handwritten note with each order. I care about the entire process and experience the client receives when ordering form Hazey Baby Co.
