Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Romani.
Hi Nikki, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After declining graduate school, I went on an 11 months Christian mission trip to 11 different countries. I traveled with a group of 43 peers and I was asked to be one of three leaders for this group. That included peer to peer mentorship, praying for them, encouraging them and walking with them through hard times. I loved it! My coach at the time told me that I could do this very thing and get paid for it. It was called life coaching! When I returned from my trip, I looked into life coaching certification programs. I ended up going through a program and getting certified to be a coach, speaker, and trainer. I now work with clients who are in a transition, as well as athletes who have been injured and searching for their identity. I’ve lead masterminds, spoke at a leadership conference, and I am a published author.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been easy. After getting certified as a coach, I had my doubts that I would ever have clients. I was struggling with this thing called imposter syndrome, thinking that there were others out there more qualified than me and that I was out of place. To be honest, I still struggle with this at times, but I have to remind myself there is no one else out there like me, and I attract a certain type of client that others may not.
I had my challenges with becoming an author. At first, I didn’t want to do it. I had never set out to be an author, but as a woman of faith, I felt God calling me to do it. Out of obedience, I did, and I entered into a 2.5 years journey of writing and putting together a book. There were days I would sit at my computer and had no clue what to write! But I stayed dedicated and sat at my computer anyway. I stayed consistent and I asked for help. I reached out to others who I knew who had written and published a book before.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a certified life coach and athletic trainer. Not only do I have knowledge in sports injuries, how to rehabilitate, and a first responder, but I specialize in helping people with mindset, setting goals, and getting to the place in life they want to be. If you are an athlete who has been injured and your identity as an athlete has been stripped away from you, I can help you find your identity again and use practical tools and ask questions to help you get there.
I am proud of becoming a published author, a podcast host, life coach and striving to live a healthy lifestyle.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be consistent, dedicated, and don’t give up. Don’t listen to the lies in your head about not being able to do it. Don’t listen to the nay-sayers. They aren’t on the same path as you. Don’t give up on your dreams, find people to rally and support you. Reach out to people who are doing something similar to what you are doing and learn from them, take advice from them. Follow your dreams! I’m rooting for you!
