Meet Nikolay Shlykov

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikolay Shlykov.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Probably my story began with the hudozhnika that I bought a camera and started taking pictures of everything I see – butterflies, cats, dogs, then I became more experienced and has already moved on to friends. I began to develop and read a lot, as on YouTube there were no video lessons. It is now very easy to learn something, just watch the training video. I’ve been taking photos for about six years. For this, I changed a lot of photos and worked a lot with some brands and celebrities. First I moved from a Small town to the capital of Russia, Moscow Then five years later came to the United States. Now I live in California and the photo is in the best place I could imagine.

Please tell us about your art.
I love taking pictures of people. I create cool ideas where I implement my ideas. I do everything from creating an image to its full implementation; of course, I attract makeup artists or stylists if I need them for this. Also the entire post word processing in qualify too, too, – all of this do I. From where do I take inspiration you asked? I watch movies, take screenshots of these movies and I have a whole folder on my computer where I store them all and I review them once a month. From there I take the ideas of color in the frame of the location or image. And also there is a cool book that I read – it’s called “steal as an artist” it’s really worth reading. I used to learn from which photographers. And now I’m teaching worldwide via Skype or doing master classes gather groups of people.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I believe that now a lot of information on the Internet and every person who comes to Instagram sees a lot of beautiful photos and even I have a thought that I would do so. We are all learning and everyone has something to start with. The main thing is not to be afraid that you will be criticized. Each person is individual and each has his own vision. I also met with various comments on their photo the main thing is not to fear – you need to shoot more to get to the Internet to get feedback and photograph photograph photograph. Of course, do not forget to follow the good content. Don’t waste time on bad photos.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Any creative person just needs to have social networks; I’m certainly no exception. The work can be viewed on my website www.savemomentnow.com, Instagram: @savemomentnow then I take their photos and backstage from the shooting. @nikolayshlykov and this is my personal Instagram where I have 23,000 subscribers, where I talk about travel and my personal life.
