Meet Olga Trujillo of New York Life Insurance Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Trujillo.

Hi Olga, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I took a leap of faith and left my 24-year career in Banking to start my career in the life insurance industry with a simple but powerful goal: to help people protect what matters most. In the beginning, I was drawn to the field because of a personal loss my children and I suffered and realized that financial planning and protection could provide families with security, stability, and peace of mind during life’s most uncertain moments.

Like many newcomers, I began by learning the fundamentals—understanding products, listening closely to clients, and building relationships one conversation at a time. Those early experiences taught me the value of patience, persistence, and truly caring about people’s needs.

Over the years, I embraced every opportunity to grow—whether through training, mentorship, and continued education. Each step forward helped me sharpen my skills, expand my knowledge, and strengthen my passion for guiding others toward financial confidence.

Today, I am proud of the professional I’ve become and grateful for the path that brought me here. What began as an interest in protecting families has grown into a meaningful career built on trust, service, and commitment. Looking back, I see not just a job, but a journey of helping others create a more secure future—one policy, one plan, and one relationship at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road.

1. Learning to handle rejection and doubt
In the early years, one of the toughest challenges was facing rejection. Not everyone was ready to have conversations about life insurance, and many times I heard “no” more often than “yes.” Learning to not take it personally, to stay motivated, and to keep showing up every day was a struggle—but ultimately it built resilience and taught me the value of persistence.

2. Building trust and credibility
Earning the trust of clients didn’t happen overnight. People don’t just buy policies—they buy confidence in the person guiding them. At first, I had to work extra hard to prove my knowledge and reliability. Through consistent follow-up, honesty, and always putting clients’ needs first, I slowly built a reputation for being someone people could count on.

3. Balancing growth and personal life
Another challenge was the demand on time and energy while growing a business. Long hours, constant networking, and a steep learning curve sometimes made it difficult to balance personal life with professional goals. Finding that balance was a struggle, and sometimes it still is, but it also taught me discipline and the importance of prioritizing both career and personal/family time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about New York Life Insurance Company?
New York Life has been a leader in the life insurance and financial services industry since 1845, known for its financial strength, mutuality, and unwavering commitment to policyholders. As a mutual company, we answer to our clients—not shareholders—which means every decision we make is with their best interests at heart. That foundation of trust and stability is what sets New York Life apart, and it’s why generations of families and businesses have relied on us to protect their futures.

Building on that legacy, my personal brand as a New York Life agent is rooted in the same values of trust, integrity, and care—but personalized to each client I serve. What I want people to know about working with me is that I don’t see this as selling policies; I see it as building relationships. My goal is to listen, understand what matters most to you, and create strategies that bring peace of mind and financial confidence.
What sets me apart from others is I hold my Securities Licenses and I am bilingual and bicultural.

While New York Life provides the strength, resources, and stability, I bring the human connection. I’m proud to represent a company with nearly 180 years of trust behind it, but I’m equally proud to offer my clients a personal partnership—one that’s focused on their goals, their families, and their future.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love listening/reading self-help and anything financial-related books. My routing in the morning includes listening to a variety of positive messages, audio books, and music.
