Meet Omar Omar of Zaks Auto Registration

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Omar.

Hi Omar, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Zaks Auto Registration is run by me, Omar Omar, and my younger brother, Mahdi Omar, in an attempt to make something for ourselves after our father passed away when we I was 18 and Mahdi was 15 years of age. For the as long as I can remember our father has been taking care of us and when we were 14 and 11 years of age the tides turned when our father was diagnosed with ALS, a muscle degenerative disease. We ended up taking care of our father and since he was bedridden, this gave us a lot of time to spend with him and learn from his mistakes. He always mentioned how he regretted not owning his own business and after his passing with the help of our brother-in-law Mohamed Mohamed and the rest of our family we started our car registration business 3 years after his passing. We were business owners aged 21 and 18 and if that wasn’t hard enough just a few months after we officially opened our doors, a global pandemic had really tested our resilience. Our family really supported us through these rough times, whether it be our mother supporting us emotionally or our sisters helping us financially but none more than my brother-in-law Mohamed and my older cousin Ahmed who really helped guide me and my brother. We are now 3 years in aged 21 and 24 and there will always be challenges but my father taught us things worthwhile don’t come easy, so we don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth ride would be the complete opposite of what I would describe our situation to be, my brother and I have considered shutting down multiple times. We even relocated from our original location because 2 months into covid with trying to balance paying rent and paying the rest of our business expenses it didn’t make sense to stay somewhere that cost so much. When we moved locations 1 year into our journey, we faced new challenges in trying to find new customers and build new clientele, so I started taking SEO courses and working on building our website and online presence and that has been a journey of its own. Covid made an already difficult financial situation that much harder, but it taught my brother and I how to be creative in our approach.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zaks Auto Registration?
We provide DMV services from title transfers and renewals to replacement credentials and VIN verifications, all without the hassle of the DMV line. At Zaks, we understand time is money, and we try our best to save you as much time as possible, so you can get back to the things that matter most. Over 3 million people live in San Diego which make the DMV notorious for long lines and bad customer service. What we do at Zaks Auto Registration is provide the same services that would take a couple hours at the DMV within a couple of minutes, so you are able to go about your day. Another thing that differentiates us from the DMV is our outstanding customer service. We know how confusing DMV paperwork can be, so we walk you through the process and are always willing to answer any questions. This means instead of waiting in a 3-hour DMV line to get stickers or get your vehicle ownership transferred now can happen in under 10 minutes while avoiding an attitude as well. Our customers almost always have no problem paying our service fees as well since we are saving them hours of waiting in line, which costs more in lost wages skipping work anyway. Regardless it is our goal at Zaks to have your DMV trip take minutes instead of hours and serve you with a smile.

Pricing:

  • Registration Renewal (Stickers) – 40$
  • In state Transfer (Ownership Change) 70$
