Hi Oreste, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Oreste Alitto, 32 years old, living in San Diego, CA and I’m a Professional Ballroom Dancer, US champion and entrepreneur.
From a young age in Italy, I was captivated by the world of dance. My journey began in a small local studio where the rhythm of the music and the elegance of movement ignited a passion within me. This passion drove me to pursue dance professionally, training rigorously and competing in various championships across Europe.
In 2017, I made a bold move to the United States, seeking new opportunities and challenges. The transition wasn’t easy, but my determination and love for dance kept me going. I immersed myself in the vibrant dance community in California, learning from some of the best in the industry and refining my craft.
Driven by a desire to help others in the dance community, I founded DanceDiscover. My goal was to assist dancers of all levels and ages in reaching their full potential—not only as dancers but as entrepreneurs. Through DanceDiscover, I have been teaching professionals how to boost their businesses, excel in communication, and build trust and relationships within the dance world.
Parallel to my journey in dance, I discovered another passion: organizing events and experiences. This realization led me to establish Eterna Experiences, a separate venture focused on creating luxury trips to Lake Como and organizing weddings and other exclusive events. At Eterna, we pride ourselves on crafting unforgettable, bespoke experiences that leave lasting memories.
Today, as both a dancer and entrepreneur, I am driven by the desire to inspire others and create meaningful connections. My journey has been a blend of hard work, resilience, and unwavering passion. Whether through DanceDiscover or Eterna Experiences, I am dedicated to helping people achieve their dreams and celebrate life’s special moments.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my life, I have faced several significant struggles that have shaped me into the person I am today.
One of the most profound challenges was the loss of my mother when I was just nine years old. She passed away due to a mental health issue, a tragedy that left a lasting impact on me and my family. Navigating life without her guidance and support was incredibly difficult, but it also instilled in me a deep resilience and determination to overcome adversity.
Pursuing a career in dance presented its own set of challenges. Financial difficulties were a constant hurdle as I worked tirelessly to support my training and education. There were countless times when I had to sell my personal belongings just to afford dance lessons and continue following my passion. These experiences taught me the value of perseverance and hard work, and they fueled my drive to succeed despite the obstacles.
At the age of 25, I made the bold decision to move to the United States in search of new opportunities and a fresh start. This transition was daunting, as I had to adapt to a new culture, build a new support system, and navigate the complexities of starting over in a foreign country. Despite the challenges, this move opened up incredible opportunities for growth and development in my dance career and personal life.
In 2021, I went through a very difficult divorce, which was one of the hardest periods of my life. The emotional turmoil and upheaval that came with it were overwhelming, but it also marked a turning point for me. This experience taught me the importance of self-care, the strength of personal resilience, and the power of rebuilding and moving forward.
Each of these struggles, while painful, has contributed to my journey and shaped my perspective. They have taught me invaluable lessons about strength, resilience, and the importance of pursuing one’s dreams despite the odds. Today, I am grateful for these experiences, as they have made me more compassionate, determined, and committed to helping others achieve their goals and overcome their own challenges.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging period, but it also provided me with an opportunity to rediscover and nurture some of my old talents and interests. One of the most fulfilling activities I took up was drawing mangas. This creative outlet allowed me to express myself in new ways, and I even opened an Instagram page to share my drawings with others. It was incredibly fun and reminded me of the joy that comes from embracing one’s passions.
Additionally, I spent a lot of time cooking. Being Italian and well-trained in the kitchen, I enjoyed preparing delicious meals. This not only kept me busy but also allowed me to indulge in great food and maintain a sense of normalcy and comfort during uncertain times.
Moreover, I took advantage of the downtime to enroll in numerous training courses. These courses were instrumental in building me into the entrepreneur and trainer I am today. They provided me with valuable skills and insights that have been crucial in my professional development. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and the power of reconnecting with one’s passions.
Overall, the pandemic reinforced the significance of creativity, resilience, and personal growth, and I am grateful for the lessons learned during this time.
