pardis taherzadeh

Hi pardis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I originally studied architecture and completed a master’s in interior architecture before transitioning into the tech industry. Currently, I am a Senior Product Designer at The Washington Post. After purchasing a house in sunny San Diego last year, I started an Instagram page to share the journey of designing and decorating our home. Drawing from my Middle Eastern background, I aim to incorporate Turkish and Persian touches into our modern house.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Transitioning from traditional architecture to the tech industry posed its challenges. Adapting to the fast-paced nature of tech design required learning new skills and embracing a different mindset. Balancing a demanding career as a Senior Product Designer with managing my Instagram page was another hurdle, especially while designing and decorating our home. Additionally, integrating Turkish and Persian elements into a modern aesthetic sometimes presented design challenges. Despite these struggles, each challenge has been a valuable learning experience, enriching both my professional and personal growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in interior design and home decoration, with a keen eye for creating beautiful, functional spaces. On my Instagram page, I share my passion for decor by providing design advice, showcasing affordable decoration finds, and demonstrating DIY projects. I love helping people transform their homes into personalized sanctuaries that reflect their unique tastes and lifestyles.

As a design decor expert, I focus on blending modern aesthetics with Turkish and Persian influences, creating a harmonious fusion of styles that is both contemporary and rich in cultural heritage. My goal is to inspire my followers with practical tips and creative ideas that make interior design accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

I enjoy the process of turning ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones, and I take pride in offering guidance that helps others achieve their dream homes. Whether it’s through selecting the perfect color palette, arranging furniture for optimal flow, or adding those final decorative touches, I am dedicated to making home design an exciting and rewarding journey for my audience.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Living in sunny San Diego, I absolutely love the beautiful weather and the relaxed, coastal vibe that permeates the city. The stunning beaches, vibrant neighborhoods, and diverse cultural scene make it an inspiring place to live and work. There’s always something to do, whether it’s exploring the local art galleries, enjoying the culinary delights, or simply soaking up the sun by the ocean.

However, like any city, San Diego has its downsides. The high cost of living can be challenging, especially when it comes to housing. Additionally, traffic can be quite congested during peak hours, which can be a bit frustrating. Despite these challenges, the positives far outweigh the negatives for me, and I’m grateful to call this beautiful city my home.
