Meet Paven Baltazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paven Baltazar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Paven. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up with my sister and mom, my family moved a lot. From San Diego to LA to the east coast, I learned to adapt to new environments but simultaneously had to learn to let go of close friends. This had an affect on me as I was never able to keep and build long-lasting relationships. There was only one thing that was everywhere that I went: Art.

For as long as I can remember, art has always had the unequivocal ability to take me to a deeply personal place within myself.

Fast-forward to high school: I’m in my sophomore year and I’ve just picked up electric-guitar. I would spend 8+ hours a day learning and practicing until I realized it was something I was passionate about. After high school, I started taking a music production class. I was very deep into music at that point.

Then, it all came to a stop when I made the foolish decision to surround myself with all the wrong people. I left home and started on a path that eventually landed me in prison.

two years later at the age of 20, I was released from prison. I had a fresh sense of determination that had everything to do with making my music heard. My goal was to make people feel how I felt when I make music.

Now, with my life back on track and my music growing day by day, I am entering a phase of my life where limits are so very endless that I, myself, can’t even forsee what the future holds for my team and I. I only know that we will be something great.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road hasn’t been completely smooth but without my team, none of this would have been possible. We have the ability to anticipate roadblocks.

Please tell us about your work.
We are a creative collective. We aim to spread our music, story, art around the world. I’m proud of the relationships that we have made with each other, and with the people that support us. What sets us apart from others is that we support the Asian community in a way that lets Asians, and Asian-Americans relate to us through culture.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was when I was discovering what rap music was.
