Meet Kimberly Brophy of Petite Street Children’s Boutique in North Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Brophy.

Kimberly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Kids have always been my jam! I started very early with a love for children through babysitting, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. I always knew that my direction in life would involve kids.

After attending college in Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, where I studied Early Childhood Education, I started working as a summer camp Director and in a daycare at a Beach and Tennis Club. I later became the Art Teacher at a preschool. I moved to Pacific Beach in 2006 and fell in love with the community. I became a full-time nanny for several families in the neighborhood. My first business was making tutus which have since “blossomed” into Petite Street Children’s Boutique.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think any business owner would agree that you put your blood, sweat and tears into your business. It’s a ton of work and long hours, but so rewarding. I love that when I first opened some of the kids were only several months old and now they are big brothers and sisters, showing their siblings around the store.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Petite Street Children’s Boutique – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Petite Street Children’s Boutique we carry adorable and affordable new children’s clothing, quality shoes, unique baby shower gifts and birthday presents that you won’t find at other stores. We offer complimentary gift wrap, so it’ makes it a quick and easy one-stop shop on the way to the party! And don’t forget we make custom tutus! We are a very beach themed boutique, carrying all your beach essentials from swimwear to sparkle sunscreen, but also are gearing up to carry more essential and green products such as baby wearing wraps and carriers, kids bamboo eating utensils, cloth diapers, and more eco-friendly toys. I am currently in the process of becoming a Certified Baby Wearing Consultant.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I am so fortunate to live in and have my shop in such an amazing neighborhood. It’s so wonderful to have become friends with the other local business owners. It’s just easy to know that we are all looking out for each other and helping each other out. We truly have a great community.

Kim, What a fabulous feature with pics and store pics and most of all your pic. Adorable all! If I were in the market for children’s clothes, books, tutus, etc. I’d shop at Petite Street Boutique! Love you, Patty
P.S. There’s an undertone of Dustin and John in your story. Perfect!
