Today we’d like to introduce you to Pili Aguado.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in a small town surrounded by mountains in the Basque Country. I studied Fine Arts in Bilbao and I become interested in graphic techniques. When I moved to Greece to live in Athens I began working on illustration and drawing. My creative process is feeded by my “imaginary worlds” but also in relation with the real life, nature and animals.
Please tell us about your art.
I have a recognizable style and I like to experiment with different disciplines, digital, painting, collage, old photography’s and archives. I am really involved in drawing about women’s and next to the feminist ideas. I really trust in illustration as a way to communicate from a poetic way of imagining. My artwork is full of references about plants, nature and ancient cultures readed by my own style.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
In our world, the creation lives in every corner. There are many ways of creating and spreading the artworks and of course that has a lot of influence in the role of the artist. I really think that the art is a way to imagine different worlds and futures.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
