Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel McClusky.
Rachel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As interesting as it may sound my journey began in music. I was a singer/songwriter for 8 years. My family is all in the music industry, and it was all I ever knew. I loved what I was doing, but when I hit college, I decided to take a break to find my voice as I was growing up and decided to start teaching fitness classes. I absolutely fell in love with every aspect. I was able to connect with people, help them create the change they were craving, and put it all to incredible music that inspired people to move differently.
A few years into teaching, I realized there was a gap in who I was reaching. A lot of people are intimidated to come to a spin or boxing class, and I wanted to create a space for them to feel the same way that people did after my classes but in a different setting. I hosted a meditation party (I assumed 5 people would come to my house) and 25 people wanted to come. I found an event space and I had no idea that night would be the beginning of Recharge Wellness Company.
From there, I started hosting more events and began implementing wellness retreats. I love creating a safe space for people to feel, connect, release, and be present. My company is for women only, and it’s been such an incredible journey to be able to connect with so many women and give them a space to go to recharge.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s my first year as a business owner, and this journey has definitely come with its twists and turns. I have found that the interest has always been there (living in the wellness mecca of the world) people crave what I’m offering, which is incredible.
I have definitely struggled with self-doubt. It’s hard to put yourself out there fully and put your whole heart into something and be ok when it takes time to build a business. I find that when I stay true to my mission and what I am trying to create, everything else falls into place.
When I announce an event, I am always anxious or nervous about the way it will be received, but I have learned that I have to trust in what I am creating because the people who are meant to be there will come. I have also somehow sold out every event and retreat that I have hosted thus far which is INCREDIBLE!
Please tell us about the Recharge Wellness Company.
RECHARGE WELLNESS COMPANY! The main goal: to recharge haha! My events are usually outlined in the same way: movement, meditation, and connection.
That is something you can always count on at one of my events and retreats. I focus a lot on self-care which is pivotal in this type a busy world that we live in.
I am really proud that in the first year I have made it a company that is geared towards women only.
I think it sets me apart from other companies. It also creates a space for women to truly feel safe in what they are experiencing. I can’t tell you how many people refer to me as Rachel Recharged haha.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. Although I’ve made mistakes, I learned from each and every one of them. I believe that failure can be a lesson if we decide it is.
I have learned so much about starting a business on my own and trusting that if I create something that I know, there is a need for people will gravitate towards it.
Mistakes and failures only show us what we can do differently in the future, and I’m grateful for those moments.
