Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Bejarano.
Hi Renata, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It started as a hobby; I use to decorate some parties of family and friends will I was studding my degree. A lot of people told me that I should work on that, be an event planner, but my answer always been the same “I don´t know” or “it´s just a hobby”. I used to have the idea of continue with marketing, work in some big company or studio. I was one semester from finish my degree, I started to feel frustrated, to think “what I´m going to do with my life? Yeah, I want a family, children, husband, but I want to do something I love, to have money by my own”.
And then… something happened, I don´t know how I took that decision, “I´m going to star my own business, start to rent all the stuff you need on your table party and I can offer the service of event planner too”. So, I started, buying glassware, crockery, investing my money. I had to much fear, if I fail, if I lost all my money, I will need a cellar, a place for a show room, etc. I inaugurated my business (named cassava) on October 2022, December was great! I started interacting with people through my page. This January I received a cellar, I´m in the process to equip it, my another goal, is to have a show room this year. For now, I continue to make myself known, reaching people through my page.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some days I feel low, how do I get people’s attention? I focus on my products being different from the competition, but if I don’t have a place to display them, will it look like a professional business? I need to start to make some more money, and clients, there are days that I don´t have any message, but I think it´s normal on a new business.
This are some struggles.
As you know, we’re big fans of Cassava. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business offers the furniture rental service for events, for the moment not heavy furniture such as chairs and tables, but wine glasses, glasses, crockery, table linen, cutlery, everything you need to decorate your table at an event or meeting. On the other hand, I also offer the service of setting up tables and decorating events.
I have focused on not only having the “typical” or “classic” but also attractive products that are different from the competition, elegant and modern.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have always been a not very expressive person, however, something that characterizes me since I was little is how organized, creative and enterprising I am. I am a very active person, I am always thinking about what to do, what event create.
My personality is calm, but at the same time, very passionate, I have always been like that.
