Meet Reyna Sandoval of QueenLaque in Chula Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reyna Sandoval.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been doing nails for four years as a professional now.

When I was 14 years old, my mom decided I needed a hobby, so she signed me up for a course in the Tijuana, MX. I would go every Saturday for four hours and learn how to apply acrylic nails and different nail art methods.

I attended the course for a year but took a break from it after I had my daughter at 16 years old. At 20 years old, once I was financially ready, I went back to school to get my manicurist license. My advice to young women who are just starting in this Journey is to keep pushing and have faith into what you do, don’t listen to anybody that tells you can’t do it, or it’s not a “real job.”

Keep calm, stay humble and understand that not everyone is going to love you. And that’s fine, just knowing that you gave it your all to accommodate them.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t change my decision to be a nail artist for anything even though I had been told that it wasn’t a “real job.” I have had the honor to have several of my work published on 30+ magazines and work on local celebrities, beauty influencers and known YouTube vloggers.

There have definitely been some obstacles in my career. In the beginning was mostly with my family, trying to convince them that this is a real job and it requires a lot of time and dedication. Another challenge starting off as a nail artist was trying to be build up a clientele.

There were definitely days where I felt like I wanted to give up because the money wasn’t enough to make a living. But I kept pushing, and with the support of my fellow colleagues I kept calm, kind, and humble and was able to achieve now my books booked 90% of the time.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with QueenLaque – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize mostly in acrylic nails. My favorite part about doing nails is the shaping, getting it to that nice sharp shape that compliments your hand structure. Secondly, I love getting to the nail art portion of the service.

I can do several different kinds hand painted nail art but what I feel is that I do best is crystallizing client’s nails and always leaving them surprised of how long they can actually last which is what I feel sets me apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Social media takes a big part of my career, it is where I showcase, network and market my work. My goal as a nail artist is to be a traveling educator with a brand I love and teach professionals but still be able to service my loyal clients. I definitely could say I love what I do.
