Meet Rhianna Basore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhianna Basore.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rhianna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As an award-winning actress, director, and writer, I have had an exciting and diverse career working in stage, film, and TV, both here in the US and abroad. My first professional role was working as an intern for Shakespeare in Santa Fe (RIP) in high school and one of the actresses walked off the set ten minutes before curtain! The stage manager had seen my work in the children’s show we did in the mornings and offered me the role right on the spot. That opportunity led to studying acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and George Brown Theatre School in Toronto. I have enjoyed all kinds of performing, from interactive space casinos and Midsummer Night’s Dream done in a Saturday Night Fever style to performing off Broadway in an original piece produced by ion theatre. I have loved all the twists and turns my career has taken, sometimes jetting off to spend the summer in Paris, sometimes staying local to shape San Diego kids’ plays with Playwrights Project. This year I directed CRAPSHOOT!, a touring one person show that will make its international debut in Iceland next year. DC Metro called the show five stars and ‘an important show.’ All these opportunities have sparked a passion to help artists create stability as they enjoy the ebb and flow of the creative hustle. I am launching a financial independence consulting and coaching business in the fall to support my fellow artists live their dreams.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has been a smooth struggle. I think the challenges make the learning so would never say any of it was too hard or bad. I have gained the understanding and strength that has allowed me to continue to seek the next opportunity and spin it into its own kind of gold.

Please tell us about your work.
I am visionary content creator who infuses empathy and connection in everything I do. I perform, write, direct, and produce the stories I want to see. I also run a financial consulting and coaching business that focuses on creatives living their dreams while building a solid financial foundation for the future. I believe that better creative work comes from a healthy relationship to money and that secure financial footing launches creative dreams further. My background managing small nonprofit organizations creates a unique but flexible point of view that helps creatives ebb and flow with the tide of today’s gig economy.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My mom took me out of the last month of second grade to accompany my dad on a work trip to Europe. While my classmates were reading Greek myths, I was naming them in Italian frescoes and visiting the grottoes of Austro-Hungary. I discovered a love for history and storytelling with a dash of adventure on that trip. I remember crying when my pizza didn’t taste like Pizza Hut. They found me some spumoni instead and I was happy as a clam. Not every adventure is a storybook but those are memories I share with my parents and treasure as shaping my curiosity about the world and people from different cultures.
