Meet Robin Jabro of HERA the salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Jabro.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, my mom was a hairstylist, so I grew up in her salon playing receptionist at a really young age, and I just loved everything about the environment. I always saw how much my mom loved going to work every day, and that became my goal. To love going to work every day years into my career. So, I graduated high school and went straight to beauty school. I worked and grew my clientele for about 8 years before me and my best friend of almost 20 years opened HERA the salon. I can honestly say that loving what you do is the key to a successful career. I get to do what I love every time I go into the salon, and I’m surrounded by super empowering, supportive, and amazing people every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anything on the road to your dreams is completely smooth. There’s always going to be bumps in the road, but as long as you stay focused and know that this is all a part of the bigger picture, you will be fine! Something I really struggled with along the way was building a clientele and constantly comparing my year 2 to someone else’s year 6. It’s the worst thing I could have done because I almost gave up on my dream. But I decided to keep going and keep showing up, and then one day I was showing up, and my books were filled, and I was booking out months in advance, and I needed an assistant, and everything just kind of fell into place!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
HERA is a beautiful salon space that my best friend and I created in the middle of the pandemic. We had a vision, and we brought it to life. Our salon is filled with 18 amazing hair stylists that with their energy alone can change your entire mood. We all laugh and talk, and clients really do enjoy their time at the salon. The best compliment I get from clients is that they love the vibe and the energy in our space. Because everyone there is happy to be there, and that in itself can make a total shift in a business! We also have 3 suites that we rent out, one filled with a brow artist, another with an esthetician, and a make-up artist.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
San Diego is the best city in the world (maybe I’m biased), but I was born and raised here, and I’ve traveled to other cities, and nothing truly compares. We have the beach, restaurants, hikes, nightlife, and so much more. I don’t feel like there’s anything we don’t have here. Being a hairstylist, I talk to so many people, so I know people from so many different places that have all decided to call San Diego home… I think that in itself says a lot! So honestly no complaints about our city lol
