Hi Robin, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Greetings! I’m Robin “R. D.” Kardon, and I’m a novelist living in San Diego, California. I’m a former attorney, professional pilot and consultant, and my two published novels, FLYGIRL and ANGEL FLIGHT are both best sellers that follow the professional and person lives of a female pilot, Tris Miles. Although all of the characters in my books, including Tris, are fictional, the workplace issues confronting women and minorities, and personal challenges faced by my characters are all too real. I like to keep my work authentic and grounded in all of our experiences. Check my books out- and I hope you enjoy them.

What informs your writing?
As with many authors, my writing is informed by my own experiences and those of people I know. It is so important for me to keep my work grounded in reality and give readers a chance to relate to and see themselves in my characters. Relatability and authenticity are the keys to my work.

How do you want your readers to think of you?
I hope my readers think of me as a strong, intelligent writer who tells the truth. While reader experiences will differ, I want everyone who spends time with my novels and characters to come away with something new they’ve learned as well.

Tell us more about how you interact with book clubs.
Attending book clubs if my favorite way to interact with readers. I have attended them live and via video chats like Zoom and Skype. There is nothing I enjoy more than discussing my work with readers. Every author wants people to love their work, and I’m certainly no exception. But I also enjoy talking with readers about things they may disagree with in my books. What kinds of groups do you do speaking engagements with?
Because of my broad professional experience, I speak on a variety of topics. Most recently, of course, I have spoken to numerous social and literary groups about being an author, my writing process and the inspiration for my books. Also, I frequently teach writing craft courses. Perhaps my most requested topics, however, relate to career development, since I was a hiring consultant for 15 years. I speak on interview preparation, career choices, changing careers and how to manage the hiring process.

How do you like to share updates with readers/other authors?
The best way for readers to interact with me is through social media, my website and my newsletter. That’s where I put book updates, information about promotions, dates my books are on sale, and detailed information about what I’m writing. Check out my social media and website links.

Tell us all about your next book!
Ah, my next book. It is the third and final book in The Flygirl Series and will finish the arc of main character Tris Miles. That said, it can also be read as a stand-alone novel, just like FLYGIRL and ANGEL FLIGHT. For those loyal readers who have enjoyed my first two books, it will answer many of the questions you have asked and bring some important relationships to a conclusion.
